Role:
We are seeking a skilled Software Engineer II (API Developer) to design develop test and maintain robust APIs and integration services that power our enterprise this role you will drive the full software development lifecycle for API projects from collaborating on requirements through coding testing documentation deployment and ongoing support to deliver high-quality high-impact software solutions. You will work closely with architects and technical leads to build scalable secure and reliable web services that enable critical business functionality.
Key Responsibilities
API Design & Development: Design develop and implement RESTful web services and APIs that meet business requirements and follow industry best practices. This includes defining API interfaces (using OpenAPI/Swagger specifications) and ensuring proper versioning and documentation for easy consumption by internal and external developers.
End-to-End Solution Delivery: Take ownership of full lifecycle API development from understanding business and technical requirements through coding unit/integration testing code review and deployment to production. Adhere to high standards of code quality maintainability and reusability writing clean well-documented code in line with coding standards.
Testing & Quality Assurance: Develop and execute unit and integration tests for APIs ensuring correct functionality reliability and performance under various conditions. Utilize API testing tools (e.g. Postman or automated test frameworks) to validate endpoints and identify issues early. Work closely with Quality Engineering to incorporate automated API tests and to debug and resolve defects quickly
API Performance & Optimization: Monitor and optimize API performance throughput and scalability. Conduct performance tuning load testing and profiling of services to meet non-functional requirements for speed and reliability. Identify bottlenecks and implement enhancements (caching query optimization multithreading etc.) to improve response times and resource utilization
Collaboration & Agile Practices: Work in a cross-functional Agile/Scrum team collaborating closely with product managers architects frontend developers UX designers and QA engineers to deliver features in an iterative continuous delivery environment. Participate actively in sprint activities story refinement estimations stand-ups code reviews and retrospectives to ensure alignment and transparency. Coordinate with DevOps engineers to implement CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code for automated deployment of API services
Qualifications & Skills
Education & Experience: Bachelors degree in Computer Science Software Engineering or related field.
3-6 years of professional software development experience with a focus on building and integrating RESTful APIs or backend web services.
