Summary:
The Campus Safety Monitor will provide security and safety services for the school campus protecting the wellbeing of students staff and visitors. The Campus Safety Monitor will perform duties under the general supervision of an immediate supervisor who evaluates performance through observation of work periodic conferences critiques and/or records or reports.
Responsibilities:
SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensures proper control of authorized access to an assigned school site.
Patrols school buildings facilities and grounds to ensure the presence of only authorized persons within schools perimeter.
Observes student behavior before during and after school hours for the purpose of ensuring appropriate behavior reporting disturbances and resolving minor altercations.
Engages students who are not in class during school session to ensure appropriate authorization to be outside the classroom; takes corrective action accordingly.
Identifies and reports any safety or security issues to school administration; assists in resolving such issues when appropriate within scope of capabilities.
Assists school staff with maintaining order and protocol during regular school activities (e.g. hall monitor lunchroom duty bus arrivals/departures parent pickup).
Escorts school visitors/parents to appropriate destinations when appropriate and/or necessary.
Performs any other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability required to perform this job successfully.
Education: A high school diploma or GED. Degree or formal training in security preferred.
Experience: One (1) year of work experience. Security experience preferred. Verified college experience may substitute on a year-for-year basis for each year of the experience requirement.
Certificates/Licenses/Registrations: None.
Language Skills: Reads and interprets documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instruction and procedure manuals. Writes routine reports and correspondence. Speaks effectively before groups of individuals.
Mathematical Skills: Adds and subtracts two-digit numbers and multiplies and divides with 10s and 100s. Performs these operations using units of American money and weight measurement volume and distance.
Reasoning Ability: Applies common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral or diagram form. Deals with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills: Knowledge of relevant and current computer software programs.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Physical Activities: Standing walking running sitting climbing kneeling crouching crawling handling keyboarding feeling talking hearing tasting/smelling and color vision.
Lifting Demands: Up to 55 lbs.; over 70 lbs. must be two person or assisted lift.
Reaching Activities: Both dominant and non-dominant hand; overhead.
Environmental Conditions: Noise intensity: 3 moderate; extreme cold extreme heat and wet/humid.
