The Plant Director is responsible for the overall performance and strategic direction of the manufacturing site including service cost quality and safety performance. The role oversees manufacturing operations supports successful new product introductions (NPI) and drives strategic initiatives aligned with business growth.

The Plant Director ensures reliable product supply while strengthening operational capabilities leadership culture and long-term manufacturing readiness. The role requires strong operational leadership business acumen and the ability to influence across multiple stakeholders.

Key responsibilities of the Plant Director:

  • Operational Leadership: Provide leadership for site operations to ensure reliable product supply operational efficiency and regulatory compliance. Oversee manufacturing engineering supply chain and site support functions to ensure safe and efficient production. Lead cross-functional collaboration with Quality Procurement Supplier Quality Facilities R&D People IT Distribution Demand Planning and Supply Planning. Navigate a complex stakeholder environment with multiple functions and senior leaders on-site.
  • Strategic Manufacturing Leadership: Develop and execute the long-term manufacturing strategy aligned with business growth. Drive improvements in manufacturing scalability automation and operational efficiency while supporting the successful industrialization and scaling of new product introductions. Define and implement the site technology roadmap including automation process modernization and digital manufacturing capabilities.
  • Quality and Regulatory Compliance: Ensure full compliance with regulatory and quality standards including FDA QSR ISO 13485 and EU MDR. Maintain oversight of the site quality system including defect resolution process performance and cost of quality while promoting a strong culture of patient safety.
  • Operational Excellence: Lead Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives to improve productivity and operational performance. Strengthen process discipline root cause problem solving and system-level improvements to drive productivity and manufacturing flow optimization.
  • Supply Chain Resilience and Capacity Planning: Partner with Supply Chain Engineering and Quality teams to strengthen manufacturing continuity and supply chain resilience. Develop long-range capacity planning strategies to support product portfolio growth and demand variability.
  • Safety and Risk Management: Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with environmental health and safety regulations. Oversee risk assessments and mitigation strategies to support safe and reliable operations.
  • Talent and Culture Development: Develop high-performing teams people development while supporting succession planning and workforce capability development.
  • Financial and Business Performance: Accountable for site financial performance including manufacturing cost productivity capital investments and operational budgets. Develop and manage the Annual Operating Plan and multi-year investment plans and drive financial discipline through business case development and effective resource allocation.
  • External Representation: Represent the manufacturing site with external partners regulatory bodies and industry stakeholders when required and support collaboration across the global manufacturing network.

Youre the right fit if:

  • 12 years of experience in complex manufacturing environments as a Plant Manager or Manufacturing Site Leader. This will be a People Leader role of 7 Direct Reports 300 indirectly in areas such as Industrial Manufacturing Production Engineering or equivalent in a highly regulated environment (Medical Devices Automotive Aerospace).
  • Medical device manufacturing background preferred with strong understanding of major regulation requirements Example: FDA.
  • Lean Leadership Training/Certification or equivalent is preferred.
  • Bachelors/Masters Degree in Mechanical Electro-mechanical Industrial Engineering and Business or equivalent.
  • You must be able to successfully perform the following minimum Physical Cognitive and Environmental job requirements with or without accommodation for thisposition.

How we work together

We believe that we are better together than apart. For our office-based teams this means working in-person at least 3 days per week.

Onsite roles require full-time presence in the companys facilities.

Field roles are most effectively done outside of the companys main facilities generally at the customers or suppliers locations.

This role is an onsite role in Colorado Springs.

Philips Transparency Details

The pay range for this position in Colorado Springs is $155000to $247000.

The actual base pay offered may vary within the posted ranges depending on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills experience business needs geographical location and internal equity.

In addition other compensation such as an annual incentive bonus or long-term incentives may be offered.
