Job Summary
Hammond School seeks a qualified enthusiastic hands-on experienced Full-time Maintenance Technician. This is a salary non-exempt benefit eligible position. This role interacts with faculty staff and vendors as well as students to help ensure a safe environment on campus. The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to repair and maintain facilities equipment and systems in support of the Schools mission.
Essential Duties and Required Skills:
- Perform a variety of general maintenance tasks to upkeep buildings grounds equipment and systems
- Use a variety of hand and power tools to complete maintenance repair and installation tasks
- Utilize the schools work order system to receive notice of tasks log completion of tasks and enter any useful comments concerning the work
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and unexpected issues across campus
- Perform general plumbing and electrical repairs
- Conducts building walk-through on regular basis to verify proper functionality and notes/corrects any deficiencies as they relate to safety building systems and equipment
- Maintain records of scheduled maintenance procedures
- Extensive set up and breakdown for events including chairs staging decorations etc.
- Performs outside custodial duties such as lawn care snow removal etc. as required.
- May obtain estimates for supplies repair parts; order parts as needed
- Assist with contractor supervision
- Comply with all safety practices
- Ensure workshop area is cleaned and organized daily
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Experience as maintenance technician in a commercial setting
- GED or High School Diploma
- Valid South Carolina drivers license
- Basic working knowledge of HVAC plumbing and electrical systems
- Experience working with tools including hand and power tools
- Be able to operate a scissor lift
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Must be able to work well as part of a team
- Must be punctual and reliable
Working Conditions:
- Indoor and outdoor work in all weather conditions
- Heavy lifting weights up to 100 pounds
- Some evening and weekend commitments
- Work with machinery
- Frequent bending moving and walking
- Standing up to eight hours a day
- Climbing ladders and working at heights is necessary

This position reports to the Director of Facilities.
