Job Summary

Interior Community Services is a non-profit accredited social service agency providing a wide range of support and intervention services to people of all ages in the BC Interior region. Our programs and services encompass early childhood family support pre-natal youth seniors and people with disabilities. We have been in the community for over 45 years and are currently the largest non-profit in the BC Interior.


ABOUT THE JOB:

Interior Community Services is seeking a reliable and motivated Community Food Centre Support Worker to join our team at the Mount Paul Community Food Centre. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work thrives in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in contributing to a program that directly supports the community.

Working under the direction of the Community Food Centre Director youll play a key role in the day-to-day operations of the centre.This is a physical indoor and outdoor position that is on your feet. The successful candidate is someone who can work efficiently and steadily for a 6-hour day doing manual labour while maintaining a positive attitude.

Main responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with maintaining and programming in the onsite learning garden including planting weeding harvesting and organizing
  • Assisting with various food skills and food access programs that are offered every day
  • Working alongside other employees and volunteers
  • Working directly with community members accessing programming on a daily basis
  • Other duties as assigned


SKILLS and ABILITIES:

  • Demonstration of safe work practices and proper use of equipment
  • Ability to complete tasks in an effective and proficient manner
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail
  • Strong accountability and time management
  • Ability to follow directions and work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work in unfavorable weather conditions including cold heat wet dust dirt noise
  • Physical ability to complete the outlined physical tasks including climb ladders heavy lifting etc.


REQUIREMENTS:

  • Canadian Citizen Permanent Resident or Refugee Status
  • 15 to 30 years old
  • Physical ability to complete tasks that include climbing ladders heavy lifting etc.
  • Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector check costs will be reimbursed upon employment initiation.
  • Valid Class 5 or 7N Drivers License clean driving record and access to a reliable vehicle is an asset.


PROGRAM: Mount Paul Community Food Centre

LOCATION: Kamloops BC

STATUS: Temporary Part-time Summer Student

TERM: May 15th -August 28th 2026

HOURS of WORK: 30 hrs/week

SCHEDULE: Monday to Friday 9:00 am-3:00 pm

REPORTS TO: Mount Paul Community Food Center Director

COMPENSATION: $20 per hour.

CLOSING DATE: Open until a suitable candidate is found
