A Day in the Life
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
- Performs installation maintenance and repairs on line manufacturing or plant equipment.
- Locates and diagnoses failures replaces defective components and performs basic troubleshooting using standard electronic equipment detailed drawings diagrams sketches specifications prints manuals and verbal and/or written instructions.
- Maintains appropriate maintenance and repair logs.
- Uses a variety of hand power and test tools and equipment.
- May redesign optical vacuum electrical electronic or mechanical systems for incorporation on existing manufacturing equipment.
- May estimate labor and equipment costs and prepare requisitions as required.
TECHNICIAN SUPPORT CAREER STREAM:Provides technical support in areas such as production operations maintenance safety testing process improvement or product development. Uses schematics diagrams written and verbal descriptions or defined plans to perform testing and troubleshooting on electronic or mechanical components equipment or systems. Gathers maintains formats compiles and manipulates technical data using established formulae and procedures and performs detailed mathematical calculations. For higher levels may suggest and/or make improvements to optimize work processes.

Autonomy:Trains delegates and reviews the work of lower level employees and may be responsible for leading daily operations of a work team.
Runs projects including performing complex tests interpreting data developing key reports and providing updates to the broader team.
Organizational Impact:Performs technical activities more complex in nature with larger impact.
Work consists of technical tasks that are complex and complicated.
Innovation and Complexity:Technical problems faced are general and may require understanding of broader sets of issues and other job areas but typically are not complex.
May be responsible for working with supervisor to identify potential adjustments or enhancements in systems and processes to solve problems or improve effectiveness of job area.
Communication and Influence:Communicates typically with internal contacts.
Obtains and provides technical information on matters of significant importance to the job areas or project.
Leadership and Talent Management:May act as a team lead and assistant to the supervisor / manager.
May delegate tasks to other team members and be responsible for the review of work product.
Does not have formal management responsibilities but may provide input to management in this area.
Required Knowledge and Experience:
- Bachelors degree in Electromechanical Electronic Electrical or Mechatronic Engineering
- Experience of 8 years in Maintenance Technician (Experience in a similar role preferred).
- Experience in personnel management.
- Intermediate English
- Experience in repairing electromechanical pneumatic hydraulic electronic and mechanical equipment.
- Knowledge of hydraulic pneumatic and electrical machinery; servomotors; Cognex and Keyence vision systems; HMIs; encoders; and Allen-Bradley PLCs (including automated machinery indexing machines ultrasonic machines and Multivac packaging machines).
