Summary:
Join the Center 2026 Summer Internship Program on the Arctic team as Research Assistant Intern. The Arctic is the worlds fastest-changing ecosystem. Join our team to learn to model and tune a model for an Arctic ecosystem. This opportunity provides mentoring online training materials 1-1 meetings and group support.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
Learn to tune model parameters for the Terrestrial Ecosystem Model a numerical model that simulates carbon exchange between ground and atmosphere in the Arctic
Interpret the modeled results and compare them with existing data
Use AI to build an AI agent for model tuning
Must have the following Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of Python programming skills
Some experience with AI tools
Core biology ecology and Calculus II or higher math classes are required
If working hybrid must have reliable internet/wifi
Qualifications:
Currently enrolled (or will graduate in Spring 2026) in an undergraduate or graduate program in Environmental Science Computer Science Soil Science or a related field
Work Environment:
The functions of this role are conducted indoors

Hours of Work
This role is paid on an hourly basis. Typically full-time employees work 40 hours during a Monday through Friday workweek.
Classification and Compensation:This is a full-time temporary non-exempt position with an hourly salary (based on Massachusetts minimum wage or equivalent state where the employee is located). Internship will not exceed more than 90 days.
Location:Falmouth MA Onsite or Hybrid (2-3 days/week)
