Humacyte Global Inc. has a job opening for the position of Lead Process Development Engineer Biomaterials based out of its location in Durham NC.
Job Duties: Develop Biomaterials Departmental objectives to ensure company success in overall corporate objectives. Mentor junior PD Engineers and Associates for Biomaterials. Be the subject matter expert and develop solutions for complex and unexpected findings and observations. Provide troubleshooting and guidance on complex processes and specialized equipment. Be the primary point of contact as it relates to outsourcing processes and materials and selection of vendors. Identify and perform operations characterization and experimentation associated with the development and optimization of degradable polymeric scaffolds for use in vascular tissue engineering. Develop and optimize degradable polymeric scaffolds for use in vascular tissue
engineering. Recommend process formulas instrumentation and equipment specification. Execute process development projects. A hybrid (in-office & work from home) work benefit is available. 10% domestic travel.
Requirements: Bachelors degree in bioengineering materials science or closely related field plus 5 years of experience in the biotech industry and Demonstrated experience with: Degradable non-woven polymeric scaffolds to include characterization techniques such as degradation mechanical testing contact angle and in vitro assays including cell survival and attachment assays; Operation control and optimization of single use bioreactors. Experience with scale-up/scale-out of bioreactor-based processes; Understand and interpret all types of complex data analysis such as multiple linear regression analysis ANOVA multivariate analysis and identify applications where appropriate; Partnering with external vendors and identifying process changes as appropriate and relates to Process Development Biomaterials; Partnering with manufacturing operations to include reviewing processes identifying improvements and making recommendations for improvements; Mentoring and training junior staff in developing process knowledge and expertise; Vascular tissue engineering; including mechanical testing of vascular engineering tissue; CAD software for use with rapid prototyping; Evaluating and testing injection molded parts and extruded silicone tubing; GMP clean room environment; Aseptic processing; Process Development; Modifying or designing parts/machines/equipment; SOP procedures and report any problem as it comes up; cGMP compliance in the biotech/bioprocessing manufacturing environment; Bioprocessing skills; and Use and maintenance of common laboratory procedures and equipment including reagent preparation mammalian cell culture sample preparation in vitro assays including ELISAs cell proliferation and cell attachment assays.
