The Environment Health & Safety (EHS) team of AGC Biologics is a team proud to serve the purpose of protecting the 1300 colleagues across our Søborg site and secure regulatory compliance! As our new Principal EHS Specialist you will enter a crucial role as a subject matter expert (SME) with focus on chemical safety.

Our Director of EHS Tomas Winther is excited to welcome a new Principal EHS Specialist and SME to the team: This role is crucial to our team and the entire organization. We give you the opportunity to work both strategically as well as operational in a high paced dynamic environment with many stakeholders across the site. We are looking for someone who is really passionate about leveraging their knowledge and competencies as a go-to-SME and joining our global CDMO organization

Join our EHS team and help set the strategic EHS direction!

The team is responsible for setting strategic EHS direction as well as supporting our many customers the 1300 colleagues and the continuity of the business. Besides having a key role in this you will be instrumental in the continuous development of the team the EHS strategy systems and processes. You will join a dedicated team of four full-time colleagues and two student assistants. We will be welcoming you with a very informal tone and close collaboration and we truly enjoy spending time together if it is having a good laugh over lunch or taking time together for an EHS off-site. Several team members have joined AGC Biologics during the past years so they remember everything about being new to a global CDMO and will support you in your onboarding as well as through continuous sparring and knowledge sharing. Therefore we also offer you a chance to join a team which is currently still developing so we are looking for someone who will enjoy taking part in this development with us!

Your daily work as a Principal EHS Specialist and SME

You will be responsible for the operation and implementation of the chemical management system - Chemical Manager - as our go-to EHS SME with regards to chemical and environmental safety aspects in Process Safety Assessments (PSA). You will also be supporting various functions with creating and reviewing Job function specific chemical Safety Assessments. Together with the EHS team you will be responsible for central parts of the certified ISO EHS system and processes. On top of this the SME has a natural ability and curiosity to engage in GEMBA walks etc. to understand the processes at the site and hence how to support in finding the best solutions with regards to chemical safety.

With your level of expertise we believe you are capable of supporting and mentoring the organization. So we are looking for someone who is outgoing and curious to engage with the rest of the organization to understand the various processes where chemicals are applied. You will be in close collaboration with and support the health and safety representatives of the Occupational Health and Safety Organization especially within chemical assessments conduct complex chemical and environmental risk assessments. You will also be supporting chemical WPA (APV) including handling & documentation chemical risk assessments and safety measures related to chemicals in the workplace. We will invite you to participate in maintenance and improvement of the EHS management system (especially the ISO 45001 part) including robust EHS procedures and processes. Together we will stay up to date with industry trends best practices and regulatory requirements within chemical safety. At times of internal and external audits you will be participating and provide expert input during change management processes involving chemicals or environmental impact.

We are looking for an experienced EHS SME!

A crucial foundation of our EHS work is navigating according to the Danish chemical H&S legislation. Therefore a requirement for this position is fluency in Danish in terms of complete professional and technical understanding. Further we are looking for someone with thorough knowledge of EU chemical safety laws and regulations as this role you will be utilizing experience from chemical risk assessments and other risk assessment methodologies and SDS/APB OEL etc. The combination of this skillset typically translates to a minimum of 5 years of experience. Bringing experience in the EHS field is more important to us than a particular degree - we welcome your application if you bring a MSc or BSc in relevant fields e.g. Chemical Engineering Chemistry or equivalent. Getting into the role will come more natural with experience from the biopharmaceutical or chemical industries but we welcome you to apply regardless of industry background. You will be joining a team which is navigating a fast-faced and dynamic organization using their analytical and problem-solving skills so if you recognize yourself as a team-player who can solve problem together as well as in individual tasks you will fit in well!
