POSITION SUMMARY
Tecumseh Public Schools is seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative Business Services Coordinator to support the administration of financial operations. This position assists the Director of Business Services in maintaining accurate financial records preparing reports and supporting business functions to ensure the effective use of district resources.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist with maintaining financial records in compliance with district state and federal policies and regulations.
- Prepare monthly financial reports and other required reports for the District.
- Support accounting and bookkeeping functions for the Cafeteria Fund Sinking Fund Capital Project Funds and Student Activity Funds as directed.
- Code and record revenues accurately.
- Reconcile district bank accounts and other financial accounts.
- Assist with payroll processing and related reporting as needed.
- Support purchasing activities in coordination with the Director of Business Services.
- Assist in the development and monitoring of the District budget.
- Prepare grant-related financial reports and process reimbursement claims.
- Prepare and post journal entries as required.
- Reconcile financial reports and ensure accuracy of data.
- Assist auditors by preparing audit work papers and supporting documentation.
- Maintain knowledge of financial data processing systems and procedures.
- Assist in preparing Board of Education agenda items related to business services.
- Ensure timely submission of required reports to the Michigan Department of Education.
- Foster a positive work environment and employee morale.
- Effectively and consistently communicate and interact with staff and students.
- Attend all mandatory staff meetings events or training
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Business Services
WORKING CONDITIONS
Environment:
- Office environment with occasional travel to district buildings.
- May require attendance at evening meetings or events.
- Periodic participation in professional development activities.
- Intermittent interruptions.
- The noise level in the work environment is at a low level.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to physically perform tasks associated with the job description including but not limited to the ability to stoop bend sit stand stretch grasp push pull walk and lift up to 25lbs.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to see hear and move intermittently or use prosthetics that will enable them to function adequately to ensure that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Education & Experience:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance Business Administration or a related field required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in business services / financial management preferably in a K-12 School District or Intermediate School District.
Preferred Education & Experience:
- Michigan School Business Officials Chief Financial Officer Certification preferred or willing to obtain within 3 years.
Required Skills & Abilities:
- Proficient in a variety of current technologies and office software ( Google Suite etc.).
- Efficient and accurate word processing and keyboarding skills.
- Ability to keep records and compile reports while maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Ability to establish effective rapport and maintain effective working relationships with administrators teachers parents and other staff members.
- High moral character integrity and strong interpersonal communication skills
- Must be able to read write and speak English
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Contract Salary Position One-year contract term (July 1- June 30) 261 days a year
