We have anexciting opportunity for a Senior Associate to join our GeneralInsurance team based in Melbourne. You will have the opportunity towork on a broad range of insurance matters with a focus on propertyrecovery and personal injury matters.

Our nationalGeneral Insurance practice advises on and manages litigated claimsfor a number of major insurers reinsurers and corporates and onbehalf of significant clients in a wide variety of industries. Wesit on the legal panels of Australias top general insurersas well as a number of other local and internationalinsurers.

You will beresponsible for and have carriage of your own files withappropriate supervision from our supportive and industry leadingpartners.

You will beresponsible for:

  • client interaction and strategy;
  • working with a team of lawyers;
  • reviewing documents and preparing evidence;
  • drafting correspondence to the Court and third parties;
  • conferencing with witnesses and preparing witness statements;
  • liaising with experts;
  • preparing briefs for counsel;
  • drafting Court documents and attendance at Court;
  • drafting client advices; and
  • drafting letters of instruction to experts.

Aboutyou

You willideally have the following skills and experience:

  • minimum of five years of post-admission experience in defendant insurance law;
  • experience managing property recovery and personal injury claims;
  • experience in advising on indemnity;
  • experience in the day-to-day management of files and in running matters through court proceedings;
  • experience supervising mentoring and delegating to junior lawyers or paralegals;
  • clear concise legal writing skills;
  • a team player with the ability to also work autonomously; and
  • motivated and eager to build a legal career in the insurance sector.
