We have anopportunity for a Senior Associate or Special Counsel to join ourthriving national General Insurance practice working with a highlyregarded team based in Brisbane.

Our nationalGeneral Insurance practice advises on and manages litigated claimsfor a number of major insurers reinsurers and corporates and onbehalf of significant clients in a wide variety of industries. Wesit on the legal panels of Australias top general insurersas well as a number of other local and internationalinsurers.

The primaryfocus of this role will be property/construction insuranceincluding high-quantum property recoveries as well as first-partyinsurance/indemnity disputes property damage defence claims andgeneral insurance matters.

You will beresponsible for and have carriage of your own files withappropriate supervision from our supportive and industry leadingpartners.

You will beresponsible for:

• client interaction and strategy;
• working with a team of lawyers;
• reviewing documents and preparing evidence;
• drafting correspondence to the Court and third parties;
• conferencing with witnesses and preparing witness statements;
• preparing briefs for counsel;
• drafting Court documents and attendance at Court;
• drafting client advices; and
• drafting letters of instruction to experts.

Aboutyou

You willideally have the following skills and experience:

• minimum five years of post-admission experience in general insurance law;
• experience in property/construction recoveries liability defence acting on behalf of insurers;
• experience in the day-to-day management of files and in running matters through court proceedings;
• experience supervising mentoring and delegating to junior lawyers or paralegals;
• a team player with a can do attitude and a strong interest in defendant insurance law;
• excellent technical analytical and drafting skills with a keen attention to detail;
• excellent verbal and written communication skills; and
• the ability to organise and prioritise effectively.
