About the Role
Local Education are recruiting a knowledgeable and engaging History & Sociology Teacher to deliver lessons across Key Stages 3 to 5 within a successful secondary department. This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher with a passion for the humanities and social sciences to inspire curiosity critical thinking and independent learning among students.
The position offers long-term stability and the potential for a permanent appointment. The successful candidate will be confident in balancing both subjects with a proven ability to deliver structured and thought-provoking lessons that encourage student participation and progress.
Key Responsibilities
Plan prepare and deliver lessons in History and Sociology across KS3KS5.
Develop resources and schemes of work that support a broad and balanced humanities curriculum.
Assess and monitor student progress through regular feedback and reporting.
Encourage critical analysis debate and independent thinking in lessons.
Maintain a positive classroom environment with clear expectations and consistent routines.
Contribute to departmental planning moderation and wider school initiatives.
Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent qualification.
Experience teaching History and Sociology to KS4 (KS5 desirable).
Strong subject knowledge and understanding of current curriculum requirements.
Effective classroom management and communication skills.
Ability to motivate and inspire students of varying abilities.
