Description
Essential Purpose: To oversee the professional and efficient service of Banquet Staff at Banquet functions.
Essential Duties:
- To train schedule support review discipline and terminate employees directly accountable to their position to maintain the highest possible levels of employee morale and department productivity.
- To understand and respond to all guest needs and requests in a timely and professional manner.
- To maintain complete knowledge of service requirements for each assigned function including details of food and beverages selected group name and background type of function expected attendance and guaranteed number of attendees scheduled hours of service special requests and arrangements order of service traffic flow in designated banquet room and names of all VIPs in attendance.
- To ensure guest satisfaction with Banquet service including previewing all banquet event orders; meeting with clients prior to functions regarding special requirements; ensuring proper set-up prior to function; ensuring proper service during functions; and personally overseeing service to V.I.P. tables.
- To monitor the set-up and service of coffee break areas.
- To monitor banquet storage areas ensure cleanliness and order and requisition banquets supplies as needed to maintain adequate stock.
- To assign stations side-work and breakdown duties to Banquet service personnel and ensure the proper completion of tasks.
- To follow all specified procedures to complete routine paperwork and closing duties.
- To conduct pre-function meeting with banquet service staff to review all information pertinent to set-up and service of group and to review and document training and safety information.
- To inform the Director of Banquets and/or banquets Manager of any deficiencies in the cleanliness or attire of Banquet service staff.
- To assist Banquet staff with their routine functions as needed to ensure optimum guest service and satisfaction.
- To be familiar with all hotel services and features and local attractions and activities in order to be able to respond effectively to any guest inquiry.
- To follow all specified procedures to correctly total group function charges prepare checks and present them to the group contact.
- To follow all specified procedures to correctly handle all cash credit and gift certificate transactions.
- To assist the Director of Banquets and/or Banquets Manager as directed and attend designated meeting and menu and wine tastings.
- To dispose of broken glass and sharp objects in appropriate containers.
- To satisfactorily perform all other duties as directed by supervisor.
- To ensure safe work practices of all Banquet service staff including compliance with company and departmental safety rules and regulations and the proper use and handling of all relevant equipment.
- To promote and follow all policies and procedures of the banquet department and Temecula Creek Inn
- To immediately report all suspicious occurrences and hazardous conditions.
- To maintain the cleanliness and safety of work areas at all times.
- To practice safe work habits at all times to avoid injury to self and others.
- To comply with company and departmental safety rules and regulations including the proper handling of all relevant equipment.
- To attend all mandatory meetings as directed.
- To perform other tasks including cross-training as directed.
Requirements
Knowledge Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. High level of English fluency required. Must have minimum three years experience in banquet food service. Must be thoroughly familiar with prevailing service styles standards of plate and food presentation and a variety of wines and food. May be required to have a valid California drivers license. Must be TIPS certified. Hotel experience preferred.
Skills: Detail oriented organized and efficient safety minded. High quality standards for production and service. Diplomatic and calm. Strong verbal communications skills. Courteous friendly and professional manner. Good team player. Customer service focus. Able to work productively without supervision. Trustworthy and reliable. Able to effectively direct staff.
Physical Demands: Stands/walks short to moderate distances throughout shift. Constantly required to handle and move objects weighing up to 40 lbs. over short to moderate distances. Uses stairs frequently throughout shift. Frequently required to handle and move objects weighing 200 lbs. to 400 lbs. over short to long distances using appropriate hand trucks and carts. Bends stoops reaches pushes pulls kneels and lifts to perform routine job tasks.
