Program Overview
Salem Public Schools is seeking dedicated student-centered educators and therapists for our 2026 Extended School Year (ESY) program. Our mission is to provide high-quality specialized instruction in the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE) to ensure students with disabilities maintain progress and thrive during the summer months. Program Schedule & Logistics
- Dates: July 6 August 6 2026 (Monday Thursday)
- Pre-Planning: Teachers/Specialized Providers will receive 3 hours of compensation for pre-planning and classroom setup.
- Location: Witchcraft Elementary
- Preference: Priority is given to applicants who can commit to the full 5-week session.

AVAILABLE POSITIONS
Special Education Program Teachers (Up to 25)
Responsible for the teaching and learning of assigned students. Key duties include preparing high-quality lessons delivering specialized instruction as outlined in student IEPs managing classroom dynamics and ensuring student safety.
- Compensation: Contracted teachers rate (includes 30 mins daily prep).
Moderate Special Education Teacher/Liaison (1)
Acts as the bridge between inclusion summer programs and special education services. This role provides individual or small-group services across various district sites (including YMCA and Boys & Girls Club).
- Requirement: Reliable transportation is required.
- Specialized Reading Background preferred
- Compensation: Contracted teachers rate.
Related Service Providers (SLP SLPA OT COTA) (2-4)
Provides therapy pragmatic language support or sensorimotor intervention. Providers deliver individualized or small-group instruction and consult with classroom staff to ensure a holistic approach to student goals.
- Compensation: SLP/OT paid at the contracted teachers rate; SLPA/COTA paid at the contracted hourly rate. All receive 30 mins daily prep.
School Adjustment Counselor / Psychologist (1)
Supports social-emotional learning (SEL) provides crisis intervention and facilitates communication with families. Delivers individualized services and social skills instruction as dictated by IEPs. Hours may be adjusted based on need.
- Compensation: Contracted teachers rate.
Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)
Provides behavioral oversight and ABA consultation for the program. Works collaboratively with staff to implement Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) and ensure safety across the school environment.
- Requirement: Reliable transportation is required.
- Compensation: Contracted teachers rate.
Assistive Technology (AT) Specialist (Up to 10 Hours)
Manages the collection distribution and operational support of students AT devices across all district summer programs.
- Requirement: Reliable transportation is required.
- Compensation: $45/hour.
