The Ferguson-Florissant School District is a community of families and neighborhoods located in suburban St. Louis MO. Fully-accredited by the state of Missouri the district provides an excellent comprehensive educational program for nearly 10000 students from preschool through 12th grade. The district is comprised of seven primary schools (PreK-2) six elementary schools (3-5) two sixth grade centers two middle schools (7-8) two high schools and one alternative school as well as a nationally-recognized early education program the PROBE gifted education program the award-winning Challenger Learning Center Little Creek Nature Area a STEAM middle school and a STEAM high school.

Position Overview: The FFSD Alternative Certification Teacher is a position created exclusively for persons accepted into Teach St. Louis Alternative Certification Cohort and committed to Ferguson-Florissant School District. This program provides an accelerated pathway for professionals and graduates to earn Missouri teaching licensure while serving as lead teachers in the district.
Throughout the duration of the program participants will receive:
- Initial teaching certification in the state of Missouri.
- Master of Arts in Teaching and Learning from Washington Universitys School of Continuing & Professional Studies at the end of Year 2.
- Instructional coaching and support from the Teach St. Louis team throughout the program.
Program Components:
Ferguson-Florissant School District and Teach St. Louis partner to provide candidates with a high-support transition into the classroom. Participants will:
- Participate in onboarding and matriculation activities in Spring 2026 including preparation for the required Praxis Assessment.
- Begin intensive coursework in Summer 2026 including full-time sessions throughout the month of July.
- Teach in FFSD for the duration of the program as a member of the 2026-2027 cohort.
- Commit to lead-teach in a Ferguson-Florissant District school for the duration of the certification program.
Eligibility:
We look for diverse candidates with a variety of backgrounds including recent college graduates working professionals and career changers. To be eligible candidates must have:
- Bachelors degree completed by July 2026.
- Cumulative GPA of 2.50 or higher.
- A commitment to work at Ferguson-Florissant School District for the duration of the program pending annual recommendation for renewal.
Compensation & Benefits:
Ferguson-Florissant School District will compensate TeachSTL Cohort teachers on the teacher salary schedule with full health benefits and paid time off so long as they remain provisionally certified. Residents are eligible to retain their teaching position at Ferguson-Florissant School District through the two years of the program and beyond pending annual recommendation for renewal based on evaluations.
