Description
The Lead Lifeguard at Petro Pool under the direct supervision of the Aquatic Director is responsible for the supervision of aquatic-related personnel and ensuring the control and safety of participants during recreational and instructional swimming.
The Community Pool is open from June 22nd to August 16th. Hours are Monday through Sunday 11:00am-5:00pm (subject to change with extra programming). A regular schedule will be provided.
Essential Functions:
- Ensures that the highest aquatic standards are constantly maintained.
- Provides direct supervision to facility staff and maintains high safety standards during recreational and instructional swimming.
- Proficient in all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures
- Communicate with a supervisor about any concerns regarding safety staff or the public.
- Responsible for determining if weather becomes a safety concern and following proper closing policies and procedures (working/communicating with Petro Pool Supervisor)
- Keeps pool area organized maintains a clean facility and cares for all equipment
- Follows opening and closing procedures ensuring all guards are following these protocols.
- Engages in positive public relations with patrons and models for other staff
- Conducts regular safety inspections of aquatic facility
- Maintains certifications listed under Certificates Licenses
- Receives and carries out instructions
- Maintain a professional appearance at all times; wear clothing that meets the YMCA dress code.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years old
- Minimum of 2 years experience lifeguarding
- Certifications: CPR for the Professional Rescuer AED Basic First Aid certification.
- Must obtain or renew Lifeguarding Certification within 30 days of hire.
- Ability to maintain certification level of physical and mental readiness.
- Must demonstrate lifeguard skills in accordance with YMCA standards.
Job Type: Seasonal
Schedule: Shifts will be between the hours of 11am to 5pm Monday-Sunday. Please tell us your availability!
Pay: $21.00/hour. Plus access to facilities to all YMCA employees Employee Assistance Program and Sick Leave.
