Job Summary
Position Title: PK-12 School Psychologist
Description:
The school psychologist administers psychological diagnostic tests; has comprehensive insightful diagnostic skills interprets a variety of informal and formal special education assessments has knowledge of specific approaches and tools to help students teachers and families better deal with all factors which interfere with the learning process has experience working collaboratively to address student needs collaborates in IEP meetings and has a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of child development. Basic background in neuropsychology and experience with children with diagnoses along the autism spectrum a plus. The successful psychologist has a strong understanding of when further evaluations may be beneficial has the ability to communicate effectively with parents and outside agencies to support student learning has an appreciation for students from diverse family and socioeconomic situations strong written and verbal communication skills an open-mind sense of humor and the ability to calmly approach stressful situations.
Psychologist Duties:
Psychologist duties may include but are not limited to: Student assessment including administration of psychological evaluations of cognitive skills attention memory social-emotional functioning and student observation. Attending IEP/504 Accommodation Team meetings school mental health crisis response team and/or counseling team Consultation with school administration BCBA SLP OT PT general ed. and special educators.
Additional Duties:
Attend department meetings Participate with colleagues as a contributing member of the school community and contribute to school effectiveness Be actively involved in professional development (i.e. courses workshops and in-service training) in order to be current in new methods and approaches in special education as well as to expand knowledge of the general education curriculum for students receiving services Serve as a resource for students and parents to help students/families obtain services outside school by providing appropriate referrals. Serve as a resource for students parents and staff regarding learning differences emotional difficulties and other conditions impacting academic social emotional and behavioral functioning Provide and participate in in-service training for staff and parent workshops.

Director of Pupil Personnel Services
Required Qualifications:
- Licensure or certification as a school psychologist in Massachusetts or equivalent.
- At least 2 year(s) of relevant experience preferred.
- Master degree preferred.
- Citizenship residency or work visa required.
- Experience participating at Team Meetings.
- Strong knowledge of psychological and educational testing.
- Strong report writing skills.
