Software Engineer, Database Migration Service

The AWS Database Migration Service (DMS) migrated more than 1.5M databases. DMS service can migrate customer data to and from the most widely used commercial and open-source databases. It supports homogeneous migrations such as Oracle to Oracle as well as heterogeneous migrations between different database platforms such as Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server to Amazon Aurora. DMS can also continuously replicate data with low latency from any supported source to any supported target. For example you can replicate from multiple sources to Amazon S3 to build a highly available and scalable data lake solution. DMS can also consolidate databases into a petabyte-scale data warehouse by streaming data to Amazon Redshift. More information on AWS DMS is available at

We are looking for an experienced Software Engineer to drive improvements to the scalability and performance of the core replication engine to handle ever growing data volumes and variety of databases.

Who you are:
- Highly-motivated and thrive in an environment where problems are open-ended.

- Have built applications using Java C/C in Linux/Unix
- Have worked with databases and Java based technology stacks such as Spring and Hibernate
- Strong understanding of CS fundamentals Object Oriented Design and Data Structures.
- Genuinely excited about technology have a strong interest in learning and playing with the latest technologies.

Youll also:
- Solve challenging technical problems often ones not solved before at every layer of the stack.
- Design implement test deploy and maintain innovative software solutions to transform service performance durability cost and security.

- Research implementations that deliver the best possible experiences for customers.

A day in the life
As you design and code solutions to help our team drive efficiencies in software architecture youll create metrics implement automation and other improvements and resolve the root cause of software defects. Youll also:
Build high-impact solutions to deliver to our large customer base.
Participate in design discussions code review and communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
Work cross-functionally to help drive business decisions with your technical input.
Work in a startup-like development environment where youre always working on the most important stuff.

- 3 years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2 years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language

- 3 years of full software development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing and operations experience
- Bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience qualifications and location.
