(No summer school on July 4)

*Summer School Coordinator Hours: AM - 7:30am - 12:00pm

SUMMARY OF ASSIGNMENT

Under the general supervision and direction of the Summer School District Coordinator participates in the planning coordinating and implementing all aspects of the summer school program at assigned site. Provides administrative direction to all summer school staff at assigned site. This position also collects and provides student data well as submits required reports.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Supervision: Provides oversight direction supervision monitoring and support for all summer school staff at assigned site to ensure a successful learning experience for each student. Ensures effective and consistent program implementation. Performs daily visits to classrooms and is available to all staff parents and students for the duration of the summer school program.
  • Planning: Participates in the summer school planning phase prior to the start of summer school. Coordinates and collaborates with appropriate directors and building principals as part of the planning process. Planning includes but is not limited to identification of sites students assessments registration enrollment management parent communicational selection of reading and math curriculum site budgets and funding student nutrition and transportation and support services hiring of staff professional development of staff substitute teachers program evaluation survey and development of timelines and/or deadlines.
  • Budget: Manages and monitors site budget to ensure compliance with Title 1 and LAP funding laws.
  • Program Implementation and Evaluation: Implements established daily schedule for students and staff. Assigns students to staff based on the students instructional needs. Ensures compliance with Article IV Section 4.3 Class Size/Case Load of the Clover Park School District and Clover Park Education Association bargaining agreement. Enforces student discipline policy and works with teacher parents/guardian and student for optimal resolutions. Coordinates with Student Nutrition Operations and Transportation Departments to provide support services. Demonstrates knowledge of curriculum and its sequence design and proper implementation. Ensures the program and materials are properly implemented. Ensures that reading and math program materials are provided to all instructional staff and that the programs are implemented as designed. Ensures that all summer school materials are collected at the end of the summer school program and returned to central storage for future use.
  • Student Assessment: Ensures proper administration and reporting of required assessments in the areas of reading and math. Monitors regular input of data as required by the summer school program design. Ensures collection of assessment tools and data.
  • Student Support Services: Coordinates and collaborates with the Directors of Compensatory Programs Special Education and Student Services to provide student support services.
  • Professional Development: Participates in collaboration with appropriate district departments to plan and provide professional development for summer school staff. Professional development is not limited to but should include training on the following topics: reading and math curriculum use and implementation assessment tool usage proper reporting and data collection working with students with special needs and working with English Language Learners (ELL).
  • Compliance/Reporting: Ensures that the four (4) day student count is completed in accordance with guidelines and submits report to the District Coordinator. Ensures the proper use of the established student data collection system to create and submit reports that evidence a students program eligibility enrollment attendance incidents discipline progress and assessment in accordance with established timelines. Ensures all assessment data is recorded in accordance with established timelines and is submitted in the proper format to the Summer School District Coordinator at the conclusion of the summer school program in accordance with the established deadline. Participates in the creation distribution and analysis of a survey to all stakeholders to evaluate and seek input regarding the summer school program. Uses the information to highlight positive attributes and make recommendations for improvement in the future. Provides data to District Coordinator to complete the final report for the summe r school program to be submitted to the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) in accordance with the established deadline. Provides data to the District Coordinator to complete and present the final report for the summer school program to the School Board.
  • Staffing: Coordinates with District Coordinator Building Principals and the Human Resources Department to complete the proper recruitment and staffing processes for all summer school positions. Ensures substitute teachers are staffed as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

  • Masters Degree in educational leadership or related field.
  • Eligibility for a Washington State Administrative Certificate Principal endorsement.
  • Experience as a principal assistant principal administrative intern or other administrative/leadership experience in an elementary or middle level school setting

  • Ability to observe monitor and evaluate employee performance.
  • Ability to create and monitor multiple budgets.
  • Ability to take initiative work independently and effectively manage multiple projects with conflicting deadlines and/or priorities.
  • Ability to exercise sound decision making skills.
  • Proficient knowledge and experience operating a personal computer and applications in word processing spreadsheet database and presentational software.
  • Knowledge of diverse academic socioeconomic cultural and ethnic backgrounds of the communitys citizens.

Certification and Licenses

  • Washington State Principals Certificate
  • Valid Washington State drivers license and proof of insurance
  • Fingerprint and Background check

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Clover Park School District experience in an elementary or middle level school setting.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is performed in both a typical school setting and satellite sites. During the normal work day employee may be required to travel to multiple sites throughout the district in all types of weather and maneuver traffic steps ramps and uneven ground Must have normal use of fingers hands and arms; ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time; and tolerance of occasional loud noises.
