Are you a seasoned safety leader with a passion for creating a truly safe healthy and future-proof work At Bunge we believe that safety is paramount. As our new Safety Manager at the Bunge plant in Amsterdam you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest standards of health safety and excellence across all our people processes and operations.
This vital leadership role places you at the heart of our commitment to safety. You will be responsible for planning organizing supervising managing and continuously improving the full spectrum of Bunge Globals safety occupational health and standards policies and procedures. Your strategic mindset and strong on-the-floor presence will directly contribute to preventing incidents safeguarding our people and facilities and embedding a mature proactive safety culture across our site.
Your Impact at Bunge:
In this dynamic senior role you will champion a safetyfirst mindset lead the sites safety function and drive continuous improvement. Key responsibilities include:
- Safety Leadership & Strategic Implementation:
As the primary safety leader on site you shape the safety strategy and translate Bunges Global standards into actionable high-impact initiatives. You will oversee the performance of safety KPIs ensure alignment with the Plant Manager and regional Health and Safety organization and guarantee the effectiveness of safety systems compliance programs audits and critical safety controls. - Visible Field Presence:
You will spend significant time on the plant floor serving as a trusted partner for employees supervisors and contractors. You will support job preparations lead or oversee Task Risk Assessments (TRAs) review and validate Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) guide toolbox talks and conduct regular field walks to identify risks verify safety behaviors and maintain a strong safety presence. - Cultivating a Proactive Safety Culture:
You will champion initiatives that drive proactive safety engagement. This includes promoting leading indicator reporting fostering free learnings strengthening Human and Organizational Performance (HOP) principles and building the ownership culture needed for continuous improvement and longterm safety maturity. - Incident Management & Analysis:
You will lead the full cycle of incident management from reporting and classification to investigation root cause analysis and corrective action planning. You ensure timely followup and closeout and you embed structural improvements based on lessons learned across the site. - Training & Development:
You will identify training needs and coordinate essential safety learning programs for employees contractors and visitors. You ensure that onboarding taskspecific training and refresher programs align with legal requirements and Bunge standards and effectively build competence and awareness. - Compliance & Improvement:
You ensure full compliance with Dutch and European safety legislation Manage the Plant Risk Assessement including Arbowet ATEX machine safety LOTO fire protection and emergency response requirements. You will lead or support internal and external audits and ensure that followups and improvements are executed effectively. - Collaborative Safety Governance:
You will take an active leadership role in biweekly safety meetings the site safety committee and other structured governance forums. You will address safety concerns develop corrective actions challenge the organization constructively and help shape strategic decisions that influence operational execution.
What You Bring to Bunge:
You are an experienced safety professional with a strong foundation in Health and Safety leadership and a proven ability to create and maintain high-performing safe work.
- Education:
You hold a Higher Safety Engineering qualification such as HVK (strongly preferred) or MVK combined with substantial and relevant experience in an industrial . - Experience:
You bring at least 5 years of relevant experience in an industrial production with demonstrated leadership responsibility. Proven experience in managing safety programs coaching teams and influencing across all levels is essential. Experience in complex industrial operations including process safety contractors and 24/7 productionis highly valued. - Expert Knowledge:
Indepth understanding of safety legislation standards and best practices within occupational health and safety including ATEX machine safety LOTO emergency response and risk management methodologies. - Practical Safety Skills:
Demonstrated competence in conducting thorough safety inspections comprehensive risk assessments and effective rootcause investigations. Strong analytical capability and comfort working with safety KPIs. - Training & Mentorship:
A genuine passion for developing others strengthening safety behaviors and empowering teams to take ownership of safety in their daily work. - Safety Leadership:
Proven ability to lead safety meetings steer impactful initiatives influence stakeholders and drive both cultural and operational improvements.
