Primary School Lead Teacher

As the International School of Texas (IST) continues to grow we announce our search for a full-time Lead Teachers to begin duties in August 2026. This positions primary responsibility will be to teach International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Program (PYP) students. We are accepting applications for teachers at all grade levels (ages 3-12).

IST students become lifelong learners as they progress through the PYP learning in a collaborative and inquiry-based environment. The primary responsibility of this position is to teach a grade level class and collaborate with ISTs subject area specialist educators (including STEM Art Music Physical Education Spanish and Mandarin) to ensure student engagement and curriculum alignment. Preference will be given to teachers with experience teaching in an International Baccalaureate School.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

The Lead Teacher must have experience teaching in the primary years. The successful candidate should have a strong belief in progressive education and have experience integrating curriculum with authentic inquiry-based or project-based learning. This position requires an openness to new technology platforms and their integration into all aspects of the classroom.

In addition to teaching responsibilities IST faculty have the opportunity to lead a variety of extracurricular and club activities that enrich the IST experience. From soccer and art clubs to robotics and cross-country IST Trailblazers take their learning outside of the classroom through their participation in clubs and teams that enrich their bodies and minds.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelors Degree or higher in a related field.
• Masters Degree preferred and increased stipend rewarded.
• Two or more years of Primary teaching experience.
• Pedagogical best practices integrated with SEL/Mindfulness.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• International Baccalaureate experience is preferred but not required
