GHDs Engineering Design Organizationis seeking an Intermediate Civil Engineer in GHDs Calgary or Edmonton office.

Working with an energetic and high-performing team this position offers a variety of opportunities and will see you involved in:
- Manage medium and large-scale integrated watershed and infrastructure planning/civil engineering projects
- Producing conceptual and detailed design drawings for a wide variety of civil and water infrastructure projects including site grading water distribution wastewater and stormwater systems and linear utility design.
- Supporting or leading design work in an integrated 3D environment that meets company and industry standards.
- Applying technical knowledge and coordination skills to solve problems on complex multi-disciplinary projects
- Act as a technical lead for a defined scope of work
- Participating in water and wastewater pumping station design treatment facility design and system assessments.
- Supporting infrastructure planning asset management and capital upgrade programs for municipal clients.
- Coordinating with multiple business groups within GHD subconsultants and external agencies.
- Contributing to the development of proposals and project strategies.
- Mentoring junior staff and supporting their technical growth and career development.
Candidates career experiences may consist of:
- Experience in creating conceptual and detailed design models and producing related drawings for civil design projects
- Knowledge of Civil 3D for corridor and pipe network modeling and familiarity with hydraulic modeling platforms.
- Experience with water sanitary and storm infrastructure design and construction.
- Familiarity with MMCD and municipal servicing standards.
- Preparation of specifications cost estimates technical reports and tender documents.
- Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and client stakeholders.
- Experience in alternative delivery models (e.g. Design-Build or P3) is an asset.
- Experience or interest in green infrastructure combined sewer overflow management and sustainable design practices.
- Working as a team receiving mentorship and guidance from Senior staff and providing mentorship and supervision and oversight of Junior staff
- Strong experience with geometric design including alignments profiles corridor modeling and cross section development
What you will bring to the team:
- 5-10 years of civil engineering experience
- Post-secondary education in Civil Engineering
- Demonstrable experience with civil engineering multi discipline projects
- Outstanding interpersonal communication skills (both oral and written) with the ability to interact effectively and collaboratively within all levels of the organization
- Experience managing multiple tasks while maintaining a high degree of attention to detail in a demanding consulting environment
- Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate work to meet required deadlines while complying with procedures and best practices
- Knowledge of BIM platforms design programming visualizations and automation are considered assets
