The People Experience Team at Waka Kotahi is in a genuine build-and-improve phase. Weve moved past simply running our people systems and are now focused on making them work better for our people.
Thats where this role comes in.
As a Senior People Analyst youll be at the intersection of people data Workday configuration and experience design. You wont just keep the lights on in our people platform (Puna Koi) youll shape how it evolves how decisions are informed and how our people experience core HR processes.
As a trusted system expert and problem solver you will:
Configure test and maintain Workday across modules: Core HCM Recruiting Time and Absence Talent and Performance Learning Compensation and Advanced Compensation Payroll & Org Studio
Lead cyclical events e.g. Performance Review process
Support organisational change implementation including managing mass data changes (using Org Studio and EIBs)
Investigate and resolve complex system issues and data integrity problems
Identify opportunities for system improvements and shape future enhancements
Provide guidance and mentoring to People Analysts

To be successful in this role you will bring:
Solid experience in HR systems or HCM configuration ideally in Workday
Deep technical capability you understand how systems data and processes really hang together
Comfortable working with ambiguity and competing priorities without defaulting to overengineering
A strong eye for detail balanced with pragmatism
A continuous improvement mindset youre curious and have the end user in mind
Qualifications:
Experience with Workday configuration (Workday Pro is great but real-world experience matters more)
You will demonstrate knowledge of or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Māori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Māori. You will also have knowledge of or a willingness to gain an appreciation of Te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public sector.
