- 11:00 AM 7:30 PM
- 1:00 PM 9:30 PM
- Schedule: 5 days/week
- Additional Notes:
- No weekends
- No holidays
- No on-call required for assigned shifts
Position Summary
The RN PACU/SDC is responsible for delivering high-quality patient care using the nursing process including assessment planning implementation and evaluation. This role involves monitoring patient responses administering medications and ensuring adherence to professional nursing standards in a fast-paced perioperative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive patient care and maintain accurate up-to-date documentation
- Perform and document patient assessments (physical psychological and social)
- Develop and implement individualized care plans; communicate effectively with care teams
- Monitor patient responses to medications and treatments
- Demonstrate leadership capabilities including functioning as charge nurse when assigned
- Utilize electronic health records and nursing informatics systems
- Support staff education orientation and ongoing training
- Participate in unit meetings and required programs (including annual competencies)
- Ensure compliance with safety infection control and regulatory standards
- Maintain ongoing professional development and clinical competency
- Deliver excellent patient and family-centered care
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal outcomes
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Massachusetts
- Current certifications required:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- Successful completion of:
- Hospital pharmacology exam
- Basic Arrhythmia Program (or equivalent)
- Minimum 1 year of recent experience (within the last 5 years) in one of the following:
- ICU / CVICU / CVPA
- Emergency Room (ER)
- Same Day Care (SDC)
- PACU
- Strong clinical skills including:
- IV insertion
- Hemodynamic monitoring
- Ventilator management
- Ability to read write and communicate effectively in English
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Recent PACU or Same Day Care experience
- Experience in a high-acuity or fast-paced hospital setting
