Job Summary
- 30% - Advocate on behalf students at the University including by addressing their needs to University leadership and departments and by supporting policies to improve their safety and success at the University.
- 25% - Inform student organizations of resources available through the Student Senate and the University at large.
- 20% - Promote awareness of events supportingstudents.
- 15% - Maintain the Student Senates relationships with community supportive services funded through the Required Student Fees.
- 10% - Research the effectiveness of legal healthcare childcare financial and other supportive resources provided by the University.

Position Overview
Student Senate is the primary advocate for students on campus. Our 90 senators 15 legislative officers 10 executive staff members 5 election commission members and advisors work together to allocate about $24 million in student fees in ways that best serve students. We also represent the KU student voice within University State and National Governance working to address and develop policy in students best interests.

Position Requirements
During the semester term of the appointment the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: (1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or (2) be pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or (3) be enrolled in summer session or (4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).
Employment Conditions
(1) Student employees are not eligible for remote work arrangements unless an exception is approved by the unit leadership and HR.
(2) This is an hourly/non-exempt position. A student employee cannot hold an hourly/non-exempt position and a salaried/exempt graduate or undergraduate position (GRA/GTA/GA/RUA/RGA) concurrently.
