Description
Performs all duties of Anesthesia Technician I and II including:
Set up and support of anesthesia equipment in all anesthetizing locations
Support for invasive hemodynamic monitoring lines
Follows established procedures for equipment inspection.
Tests equipment to ensure proper operating condition.
Performs lower-level troubleshooting and takes corrective action to prevent hazardous situations.
Ensures availability of expendable laboratory and monitoring supplies by:
Inspecting inventories
Initiating purchase requisitions
Responds to emergency service requests after regular working hours on a rotating basis.
Assists in transporting post-operative patients to the Intensive Care Unit.
Follows sterile technique principles and infection control policies to maintain a healthy work environment.
Observes safety guidelines including JCAHO and organizational standards especially when working with electrical equipment.
Equipment Checks
Performs daily apparatus and equipment checks.
Equipment Setup and Support
Prepares the anesthesia machine for procedures in operating rooms and offsite areas.
Connects pipeline gases and monitors correctly.
Troubleshooting
Troubleshoots all anesthesia equipment including:
Anesthesia machines
Patient monitors
Electronic medical records
Intubation equipment
Infusion devices
Hemodynamic Monitoring Lines
Sets up and calibrates hemodynamic monitoring lines including:
Purging lines free of air
Calibrating equipment before use
Performs other related responsibilities as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience: Minimum three (3) years as an Anesthesia Technologist or equivalent combination of education training and experience.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Medium): 20-50 lbs; 0-33% of the work day (occasionally); 11-25 lbs 34-66% of the workday (frequently); 01-10 lbs 67-100% of the workday (constantly); Lifting 50 lbs max; Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs; Occasional to frequent standing & walking Occasional sitting Close eye work (computers typing reading writing) Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS: Factors affecting environment conditions may vary depending on the assigned work area and tasks. Environmental exposures include but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure Bio-hazardous waste Chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors Communicable diseases Electrical shock Floor Surfaces Hot/Cold Temperatures Indoor/Outdoor conditions Latex Lighting Patient care/handling injuries Radiation Shift work Travel may be required. Use of personal protective equipment including respirators environmental conditions may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
