Qualifications:
- Graduate of Industrial Design Mechanical Engineering Electronics Engineering Computer Engineering Multimedia Arts Industrial Technology or any related technical field
- Technical certifications in 3D printing electronics or fabrication systems are an advantage
- At least 24 years of progressive experience in 3D printing operations electronics prototyping fabrication labs or maker spaces and/or technical workshop environments
- Hands-on experience with FDM 3D printers Arduino and Raspberry Pi systems soldering and circuit assembly and troubleshooting technical equipment
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Demonstrates safety orientation and adherence to systems discipline
- With instructional support skills and ability to assist in training or workshop facilitation
- Strong technical aptitude and problem-solving skills
- Experience in academic or training environments is preferred
Job Description:
- Oversee daily operations of the fabrication and prototyping areas of The Forge
- Ensure proper setup calibration and functionality of 3D printers electronics workstations Arduino kits Raspberry Pi systems and soldering/etching tools
- Maintain an organized safe and operationally efficient fabrication environment
- Manage 3D printing workflow including print queue file validation and slicing review material usage monitoring and print scheduling/prioritization
- Ensure academic-priority projects are processed first
- Monitor filament consumption and recommend procurement based on usage trends
- Maintain printer logs including usage hours maintenance schedules calibration records and error tracking
- Supervise the use of Arduino kits Raspberry Pi systems electronics consumables and soldering/testing tools
- Provide technical guidance to students working on course-based projects capstone prototypes and research fabrication
- Ensure proper handling and accountability of electronics components
- Implement and enforce laboratory safety standards and protocols
- Ensure completion of mandatory safety orientations prior to equipment use
- Enforce proper use of soldering stations heated tools and electrical systems
- Control access to fabrication equipment
- Document safety incidents and submit reports as required
- Maintain clear safety signage and standard operating procedures
- Allocate fabrication resources based on priority: course requirements academic projects (thesis/capstone) and institutional requests
- Coordinate with faculty for large-scale or deadline-driven fabrication projects
- Perform preventive maintenance on 3D printers electronics workstations and fabrication tools
- Identify equipment issues early and recommend servicing or replacement
- Maintain equipment condition logs and submit maintenance reports
- Provide mentorship and technical consultation to students and faculty
- Advise on prototyping feasibility equipment capability material limitations and fabrication planning
- Support the positioning of The Forge as a center of technical competence and innovation
