Job Summary

Under the overall guidance of the Multi-Country Project Manager the Communication and Knowledge Management Advisor is responsible for creating and executing effective communication plans that engage and foster various stakeholders about the projects mission programs and impact. The purpose of the role also includes leading and managing all communication activities lead in developing all communication materials driving innovation and continuous improvement in communication efforts and managing communication during times of change or crisis. The goal of the Communication & KM Advisor is to enhance the organizations reputation maintain brand across raise awareness and promote stakeholder engagement to support the mission and success of SNV. Contribute to the overall project learning agenda through advising the SNV Soil Values project Management Unit and taking coordinating role in the collection/development of evidence and knowledge products.

Duties & Responsibilities

The key responsibilities of the Communication and Knowledge Management Advisor will include the following Key Responsibility:

A. Communication

  • Support all communication activities with country teams and Soil Values communication specialists;
  • Support/contribute to build and implement Soil Values internal communication plan;
  • Support/contribute in close collaboration with the MCPM the compilation and editing of material for Soil Values annual highlights and program reports;
  • Support the development and implementation of a content management strategy for the Soil Values program including a digital strategy for social media channels (track records newsletters and other digital communication products) in collaboration with the others communication specialists.
  • Ensure the proper use of the Soil Values brand identity and policy and values by the team;
  • Ensure visibility of program results innovations and partnerships across national regional and global platforms.
  • Support the preparation of communication outputs for donor reporting and external stakeholders;
  • Coordinate communication efforts with consortium partners (IFDC WUR) and relevant stakeholders.

B. Knowledge Management and Learning

  • Collaborate with the consortium communication specialists and contribute to the implementation of Soil Value Knowledge Management strategy;
  • Support countries teams Integrate (including GESI) to develop knowledge learnings (good practices case studies and lessons learned) and share with the Communication Lead of Soil Values;
  • Facilitate knowledge capture documentation and sharing of best practices lessons learned and innovations;
  • Establish mechanisms for internal learning reflection and adaptive management within the project;
  • Initiate strategic partnerships with projects to support the implementation of Knowledge Management initiatives with clear linkages to improving performance promoting innovations scaling up success and influencing policy;
  • Develop sustainable approaches to content generation capture and information to promote a culture of continuous knowledge development and sharing;
  • Identify indicators and monitoring methods to track results and impacts of Knowledge Management activities and coordinate knowledge sharing-related monitoring & evaluation and reporting efforts of Soil Values.

Qualifications :

  • Masters degree in communication Knowledge Management Journalism Public Policy International Development or related fields; or Bachelors plus substantial leadership experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in communication and/or Knowledge Management;
  • Demonstrated success translating field results for policy and practitioner audiences.
  • Strong command of digital ecosystems (web/SharePoint/WordPress analytics SEO social digital asset management and Artificial Intelligence (Adobe CC Caneva).
  • Excellent writing/editing; multicultural fluency is an advantage;
  • Experience in Agriculture technologies Soil Fertility Management is an asset;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders;
  • Experience in multicultural & multilingual environments;
  • Fluency in speaking and writing English and French;
  • Ability and willingness to travel in the others West Africa countries.

Additional Information :

  • Type of contract: national contract full time
  • Initial contract duration: 3 years with possibility of extension
  • Location: Abuja Nigeria with regular travel to other countries.
  • Expected start date: May 1 2026
