Job Summary

The New York City Department of Correction (DOC) is an integral part of the Citys evolving criminal justice system participating in reform initiatives and strategies aimed to move the City towards a smaller jail systemwithout compromising public safety. The DOC is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for our employees visitors volunteers and people in our custody. Importantly safe jails enable DOC to provide people in custody with the tools and opportunities they need to successfully re-enter their communities. The DOC operates facilities and court commands across the five boroughs with more than 7500 diverse professionals and knowledgeable experts.

DOC seeks to recruit a dedicated and detail-oriented Data Center Intern to support the Information Technology Division. As a Data Center Intern you will play a crucial role in the management of disaster recovery maintenance security and administration of our servers operating systems databases and network-attached storage. Your responsibilities will include overseeing the lifecycle of hardware and software from installation to troubleshooting maintenance and ultimate decommissioning.

Responsibilities:
- Install and configure servers storage solutions and network equipment across multiple data centers ensuring compliance with security policies and addressing critical vulnerabilities.
- Perform routine maintenance and upgrades to maintain optimal performance reliability and security of the data center infrastructure.
- Support the management of disaster recovery processes and security measures to protect sensitive information and systems.

Preferred Skills:
- Proficient in Windows Batch and PowerShell scripting.
- Experience with Linux shell scripting.
- Familiarity with Windows and Linux access control and permissions.
- Understanding of fiber and copper cabling.

Qualifications :

As of June of the Program year the prospective intern must be a student matriculated in a college or be a recent college graduate (winter/spring term of the Program year).
NOTE: Appointment to this title is only valid for the duration of the Program June - August each year.
