Position Overview:
The Student SupportCoordinator plays a critical role in fostering a positive inclusive and supportive school culture. This position is responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operations of the Student Support Room responding to behavior and engagement needs across the school and implementing high-quality MTSS and restorative practices to ensure every student has the opportunity to be successful academically socially and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities:
Student Support & Daily Operations
Oversee the daily functioning of the Student Support Room to ensure a calm welcoming and therapeutic environment.
Provide responsive support to students referred for behavioral emotional or engagement concerns ensuring timely and appropriate follow-up.
Develop individualized student support plans to address root causes of behavior and promote growth safety and success.
Social-Emotional Learning MTSS & Restorative Practices
Implement and support evidence-based SEL restorative justice and self-regulation curricula; assist in adapting or designing materials as needed.
Teach and reinforce self-regulation coping and self-advocacy strategies to identified students.
Use MTSS-aligned interventions including data-informed decision-making progress monitoring and tiered supports.
School Culture Climate & Behavior Response
Collaborate closely with administrators counselors teachers and restorative justice staff to ensure consistent and positive behavior expectations across the school.
Respond to behavior calls with a calm solutions-oriented and student-centered approach.
Model and promote respectful communication relationship-building and unconditional positive regard.
Family & Community Partnership
Maintain proactive and supportive communication with parents/guardians to strengthen schoolhome partnerships.
Engage families in the development of plans and ongoing communication related to student progress.
Staff Collaboration & Professional Development
Co-design communicate and implement clear schoolwide policies protocols and behavior support systems.
Support staff with proactive strategies restorative approaches and classroom interventions when appropriate.
Participate in and help facilitate professional learning aligned to SEL MTSS trauma-informed practices and restorative responses.
Program Management & Leadership:
Continuously monitor program effectiveness using qualitative and quantitative data; adjust supports as needed.
Supervise interns and volunteers as assigned.
Contribute to a positive team-oriented culture where students and adults feel valued safe and supported.
Qualifications:
Associates or Bachelors degree preferred.
13 years of experience working directly with at-risk youth in social-emotional behavioral or counseling settings required.
Demonstrated commitment to ensuring academic and behavioral success for all students.
Strong leadership problem-solving and de-escalation skills.
Experience working in urban schools and with diverse student populations strongly preferred.
Ability to communicate clearly compassionately and professionally with students families and staff.
Skilled in behavior management restorative practices and care planning.
Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
Bilingual (Spanish) candidates strongly encouraged to apply.
