Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Sterile Processing Technician (SPT) to support surgical services by ensuring proper cleaning sterilization and preparation of medical instruments and equipment. This role is critical in maintaining patient safety and infection control standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clean decontaminate and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment
- Inspect assemble and prepare instrument trays for procedures
- Ensure compliance with infection control and sterilization standards
- Maintain proper documentation of sterilization processes
- Monitor and operate sterilization equipment
- Manage inventory and ensure availability of sterile supplies
- Maintain a clean and organized sterile processing environment
- Participate in on-call rotation as required
Key Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Knowledge of sterile processing procedures and standards
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- CSP Certification (IAHCSMM/HSPA) preferred
- If not certified must comply with New York State Central Services regulations
- Minimum 2 years of sterile processing/instrument experience preferred
- Instrument certification is a plus
- Must maintain at least 10 continuing education credits annually
