Rate of Pay: 28.22 - 37.28 per hour
Summary:
As a Principal Social Worker within the Assessment Team you will occupy a senior practitioner role providing expert clinical leadership and supervision. You will be responsible for managing a small highly complex caseload while supporting the Team Manager in ensuring that statutory wellbeing assessments and Section 47 (child protection) enquiries are conducted to the highest standard. Operating within the Signs of Safety framework you will ensure that assessments are strengths-based child-centered and focused on clear outcomes for families in the South Powys region.
Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality professional supervision to Social Workers Newly Qualified Social Workers (NQSWs) and Wellbeing Workers within the Assessment Team.
- Review and sign off on complex assessments and care plans ensuring they meet the requirements of the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014.
- Hold a small targeted caseload of the most complex or high-profile assessment cases involving significant risk or legal complexity (e.g. Public Law Outline/Court proceedings).
- Assist in the management of the daily duty rota providing expert advice to the Front Door (Information Advice and Assistance) team on thresholds for intervention.
- Lead and coordinate multi-agency child protection enquiries ensuring timely intervention to safeguard children at risk of significant harm.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Social Work (or equivalent) and current registration with Social Care Wales.
Essentials:
- Significant post-qualification experience in a statutory Childrens Services setting specifically within Assessment or Front Door teams.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014 Wales Safeguarding Procedures and the Children Act.
- A full UK driving license and access to a vehicle are essential for travel across the South Powys region.
