Job Summary

Position Summary

The DVSARP Nurse provides specialized trauma-informed care to pediatric and adult survivors of sexual assault and intimate partner violence. Responsibilities include medical assessments forensic evidence collection documentation in alignment with provincial standards and collaboration with community partners. This position includes on-call duties to support Quinte Healths 24/7 regional response across all sites.

Required

Current Certificate of Registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
Current certification in BCLS or CPR or proof of enrolment in a recertification course. You will be asked to provide a copy of your valid certificate at the time of hire/transfer.
1 year of emergency room nursing experience
Previous experience supporting patients affected by domestic violence and/or sexual assault in a hospital or community-based program.
Completion of relevant DVSARP training within the past 5 years or willingness to complete within 6 months of hire.
Completion of Indigenous Cultural and 2SLGBTQI Awareness and Trauma-Informed Care training within the past 5 years or willingness to complete within 1 year of hire.
Demonstrated ability to complete physical and mental health assessments.
Demonstrated competency in performing venipuncture.
Commitment to completing 40 hours of forensic nursing training following the orientation period.
Willingness to complete additional education related to intimate partner violence and sexual assault.
Willingness to commit to the DVSARP team for a minimum of two years following forensic nurse training.
Availability for 72 hours of on-call shifts per month including a minimum of 24 hours on weekends.
Capable of managing a physically demanding workload (Physical Demands Analysis available for review).

Duties

Provision of comprehensive medical care to paediatric and adult survivors of sexual assault and intimate partner violence.
Collection and documentation of forensic evidence.
Documentation in accordance with provincial standards and guidelines.
Collaborate with community partners as part of an interdisciplinary team.
Attendance in court may be required.
Must demonstrate an understanding of the systemic nature of violence against women and children.
Work under medical directives.
On-call coverage required as part of the position to support a 24/7 service response across all four Quinte Health sites.
Willingness to submit six weeks availability for on-call shifts to the Manager two weeks prior to the creation of the next schedule.
