Innovation Coordinator Needed

As part of our continued transformation and partnership with Transcend EducationCharlotte Central School(CCS)is seeking internal candidates to serve as Innovation Coordinator for the 2026-2027 school year. Innovation Coordinators play a pivotal role in supporting schools to adopt and sustain innovative practices. Innovation Coordinators often have a blend of expertise facilitation skills and a deep commitment to educational transformation. Transcend will provide training to support Innovation Coordinators to act as guides coaches and collaborators working with their school teams to reimagine learning environments in alignment with CVSD district-wide student experiences and tailored to the context of their specific school communities.
The Innovation Coordinator will specifically lead and support the work of Design Teams at their school site collaborating closely with administration educators and student leaders. Primary work will include leading your school community to:
- Understand how our current school design is in alignment with the district blueprint and what we might want to design/redesign to ensure extraordinary learning for all children in our community. Your community will form a design team listen to students through surveys and interviews and engage families and staff in various activities.
- Articulate clear rationale for design work and build clarity and conviction toward designing in connection to the district blueprint. Together with the design team identify design incoherencies clarify what to keep or change and write a compelling rationale for our redesign effort.
- Envision or reimagine student experiences using community insights research and existing models. This will include adapting / adopting frameworks from Transcend to learn and design and we gather broader community feedback including from students.
- Test new experiences with teachers and students to understand attitudes feasibility impact and sustainability of our design understand implementation needs and build conviction in the process.
- Reflect on and tend to your community conditions to implement your design including where you might need to clarify the vision build teacher and team capacity grow our coalition and strengthen a culture of learning.
- Chart a course for the year ahead by outlining priorities goals quarterly plans and team roles in a clear journey plan.
Innovation Coordinators will also work closely with the office of the Director of Learning and Innovation and with Innovation Coordinators on other campuses throughout the district. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about educational innovation and equity grounded in CVSDs priorities of Identity Connection Proficiency and Direction (ICPD) and enhancing student engagement.
Primary Responsibilities
- Attend training from Transcend and receive ongoing coaching to implement key practices. Attend all training sessions hosted by Transcend (more information here) including executing next-steps with your community based on what you learn.
- Coordinate and support Design Teams on their campus. This includes but is not limited to planning agendas facilitating team meetings supporting team members to engage in learning and leading the creation of core artifacts to build clarity and coalition with stakeholders across campus.
- Coordinate collection and synthesis of community input and feedback. Throughout the process shepherd the Design Team to center student voice and support your community to make decisions grounded in what you learn from students.
- Communicate with your school community. Maintain strong documentation of Design Team progress (timelines celebrations and learnings) and in collaboration with school principal share updates with community stakeholders including staff to communicate this progress.
- Serve as a thought partner to school leadership. Hold the process tend to conditions and review schoolwide data to identify trends barriers and opportunities for innovation.
- Collaborate with the Educational Leadership Team other Innovation Coordinators and Transcend. Build knowledge of key frameworks and tools and work closely with other Innovation Coordinators across the district to share best practices and work through problems of practice.
Ideal Innovation Coordinators should have significant experience in:
- Education - Multiple years working in or closely with schools
- Professional development design & delivery - Experience designing and facilitating learning experiences for educators (workshops training sessions cohort-based programs)
- Facilitation - Experience facilitating teams or working with individual educators to improve practice
You should possess strong skills in:
- Empathy and understanding of student experience and a belief in the importance of increasing student agency
- Team building - Ability to bring people together and build collaborative cultures
- Change management - Understanding how to lead and support organizational transformation
- Design thinking/innovation - Openness to innovative approaches and design-based problem solving
- Project management - Ability to take vision and turn it into action alongside stakeholders (includes effective use of time managing of scheduling and team engagement logistics)
- Awareness of political acumen: how powerinfluence and decision making move within schools.
- Understanding of high-quality teaching and learning practices

- Is relationship-driven and energized by coaching others to achieve excellent outcomes for students

Time Commitment
- Regular meetings with school leadership district leaders and Transcend partners.
- Monthly or bi-monthly Design Team sessions.
- Flexible time for planning data reflection and collaboration with stakeholders.
- Approximately 15 hours per month for the 2026-2027 school year
