Reports To: Principal Director of Special Education/Director of Health Services
Duty Days: 190 Days

Qualifications:
Current RN license issued by the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners.
Minimum of three years RN nursing practice preferred.
Certification for CPR/AED at Healthcare Provider level.
Experience in working with medically fragile students preferred.
Primary Purpose:
To provide health and educational related services in a classroom setting to students with disabilities that are identified as being medically fragile.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate professional behaviors commensurate with the job responsibilities.
- Demonstrate appropriate written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrate competency in the areas of health content and health services.
- Implement appropriate classroom health related services for medically fragile student (tube feeding catheterizing diaper changing etc.).
- Maintain accurate and current health information on all students.
- Administer medication to students according to KISD policy and student medical care plan.
- Facilitate the implementation of students plan of care from physicians.
- Attend ARD meetings as appropriate.
- Assist in the facilitating students IEP.
- Responsible for training district staff as needed to support health needs of assigned students.
- Responsible for mandated guidelines for student screenings and immunization compliance.
- Coordinate a classroom crisis team and develop an emergency evacuation plan.
- Assist in creating the classrooms medical emergency plan.
- Other SHARS Duties as assigned.
- Provide Personal Care as identified in applicable student IEPs.
Equipment Used:
Thermometer blood pressure cuff basic clinic equipment equipment used with medically fragile students personal computer and fax machine.
Working Conditions:
Maintain emotional control under stress. Exposure to bacteria and communicable diseases. Frequent lifting and positioning of students (moderate to heavy lifting).
