Job Summary

This role is responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of SOILLs end-to-end supply chain ensuring the efficient flow of raw materials to the various plants as well as for finished goods to customers. The role oversees all warehouse operations (internal and thirdparty managed) procurement and supplier management inbound and outbound logistics (inhouse and outsourced) inventory management and distribution planning. Role needs to ensure that the supply chain processes support production reliability cost efficiency customer service excellence and compliance with all safety quality and regulatory requirements.


Required Skills:

Supply Chain Strategy & Leadership

  • Develop and implement the supply chain roadmap.
  • Align warehouse logistics and inventory strategies with production planning and sales demand.
  • Lead optimization projects to reduce costs and increase service levels.

Warehouse Management (Internal & 3rdParty)

  • Oversee Swellendam warehouse operations including receiving storage and stock handling and management.
  • Manage performance of thirdparty warehouses through SLAs and controls.
  • Ensure warehouse layouts and material handling support optimal throughput.
  • Responsible for full pallet management including daily reconciliation cost optimisation loss reduction and ensuring compliance with all associated processes and exchange procedures.

Logistics & Distribution (Inhouse & Outsourced)

  • Manage inhouse fleet utilization route planning driver schedules and remuneration and vehicle up time ensuring this operates as a profitable unit.
  • Manage outsourced transporters via SLAs and performance reviews ensuring optimized costs while achieving benchmark strike rates
  • Ensure delivery lead times and cost KPIs are met.
  • Ensure transport compliance for vehicles and drivers.

Inventory Management & Stock Accuracy

  • Maintain inventory accuracy and full batch control across all warehouses.
  • Oversee cycle-count program and annual stock take.
  • Responsible for endtoend inventory optimisation ensuring the right stock at the right time through rateofsale analysis stock cover management promotional forecasting and seasonalitybased planning.

Cost Management & Budget Control

  • Prepare and manage the annual supply chain budget.
  • Track costs monthly and implement costcontainment initiatives.
  • Manage transporter rate structures and negotiate contracts.
  • Conduct benchmarking to ensure cost competitiveness.

Systems Reporting & Process Improvement

  • Maintain accurate supply chain dashboards and KPIs.
  • Ensure ERP and WMS processes are used correctly.
  • Drive continuous improvement using Lean principles.
  • Ensure full audit compliance for stock and logistics.

Procurement & Supplier Management

  • Ensure that the procurement strategy delivers cost quality delivery and service-level optimization while maintaining the desired BEE procurement.
  • Maintain an approved supplier database and ensure supplier evaluations onboarding and compliance checks are completed.
  • Negotiate contracts pricing agreements and service levels to ensure cost competitiveness.
  • Monitor supplier performance (quality OTIF service levels) and implement corrective actions where required.
  • Align purchasing with production demand planning and material availability requirements.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings supplier consolidation and risk mitigation.
  • Ensure adherence to procurement policies ethical sourcing principles and audit requirements.

Employee management and development

  • Ensure overall compliance with relevant procedures and policies.
  • Ensure that all team members have clearly defined job profiles
  • Regular goal review completed to assess achievement of results
  • Support coaching and mentoring is continuously provided to ensure that objectives are met
  • Ensure that development plans are in place for each employee
  • Appropriate allocation of resources to meet operational demands
  • Ensure that events/activities taking place in the team are effectively communicated within team
  • Ensure adequate succession planning in order to meet ongoing and anticipated business requirements

Health and Safety

  • Participate in safety forums created by Soill for example safety meetings and safety talks
  • Follow-up on any activities assigned through safety meetings / committees / representatives / management
  • Report all safety incidents to the relevant people
  • Attend safety education and refresher programmes
  • Comply with safety policies and procedures at Soill
  • Distribute safety information as and when required
  • Wear protective clothing (where applicable) at all times
