Overview
The Plumbing Technician supports the installations testing maintenance and repair of plumbing systems within a manufacturing environment. This role ensures all plumbing infrastructure ranging from water supply and drainage systems to fixtures and mechanical components is installed and maintained to high standards of safety quality and efficiency. During periods of downtime the technician will assist other facilitys teams with inspections documentation and general maintenance tasks.
Key Responsibilities
Installation & Assembly
- Install assemble and test plumbing systems including piping valves fittings fixtures pumps and related components
- Interpret blueprints schematics and technical drawings to ensure accurate installation to ensure accurate installations
- Fabricate measure cut thread and bend pipes using appropriate tools and equipment
- Install and secure water supply lines drainage systems venting and mechanical room components
Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Diagnosing and repairing issues in plumbing systems including leaks blockages pressure irregularities and equipment failures
- Perform routine inspections to ensure system integrity and compliance with building codes
- Test installed or repaired systems for proper performance and safety
- Maintain and repair pumps water heaters filtration systems and other plumbing-related equipment
Collaboration & Documentations
- Work closely with engineers facilities staff and project teams to support systems upgrades and facility
- Document test results repair logs installation procedures and technical findings
- Provide material take-offs and assist in planning for plumbing-related equipment and supplies
- Recommend modifications to improve system efficiency reliability and maintainability
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all work complies with the Alberta Building Code National Plumbing Code of Canada and relevant municipal regulations
- Follow company safety protocols and the Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act Regulations and Code
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment ensuring proper handling of tools equipment and materials
Required Skills
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Experience with routine plumbing maintenance is an asset
- Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with industrial plumbing systems
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
- Able to work professionally tactfully and respectfully in a diverse environment
- Highly adaptable with strong problem-solving skills
Qualifications
- Valid Journeyperson Plumber Ticket (or equivalent provincial certification)
- 2 years of experience as a Journeyperson in plumbing installations maintenance or industrial facility support
- First Aid Certification is suggested but not required training can be provided
- Training to be provided for additional needs as required
- Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred
