JOB DUTIES
- Selects size and type of pipe and related material and equipment according to job specifications
- Inspects worksite to avoid structural weaknesses
- Plans sequence of installation to avoid obstructions and interference with other workers
- Cuts threads and bends pipe
- Mounts pipe hangers and brackets on walls and ceilings
- Assembles and installs a variety of metal or nonmetal pipes and pipe fittings
- Joins pipe using threaded caulked soldering brazing fused or cemented joints
- Installs and maintains refrigeration and air conditioning systems
- Tests piping systems for leaks
- Secures pipes to structure with brackets clamps and hangers
- Welds pipe supports to structural steel members
- May observe production machines to detect malfunctions or verify repairs (if certified)
- May assist in lifting positioning and securing material during installation
- Perform minor maintenance and cleaning of tools/equipment
- Respiratory protection may be required
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- One (1) to Four (4) years of experience in Pipefitting (depending on mechanic level)
- Ability to meet client job site safety requirements (clean shaven long sleeves steel toe boots etc.)
- NCCER certification preferred but not required
- Pre-employment craft test drug screen physical background check and completion of safety training is a condition of employment
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
- Practice all safety rules
- Follow verbal and written instructions
- Safely use hand and power tools
- Report to and assist immediate supervisor
- Perform quality work as determined by project specifications
- Account for all tools and materials at the end of your shift
- Work well as part of a team
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs. (assistance recommended for heavier loads)
- Stand/walk for long periods and work extended hours on uneven surfaces
- Climb ladders scaffolds and work at heights or in confined spaces
- Wear respirator and other PPE as required
