Principal- Lawrence W. Pingree Elementary School

We educate over 5600 students across 11 schools: Weymouth Early Childhood Center eight elementary schools (grades K5) Chapman Middle School (grades 68) and Weymouth High School (grades 912). Responsibility:
The Principal of Pingree Elementary School reports directly to the Superintendent of Schools or their designee.
General Duties:
The Principal provides overall leadership for the planning implementation and continuous improvement of the schools instructional and operational programs.
Specific Duties:
- Provides instructional leadership and promotes student behavior aligned with the instructional program
- Supervises and evaluates all professional administrative and support personnel in accordance with district procedures
- Conducts frequent classroom visits to support high-quality instruction and student learning
- Assists in the development revision and evaluation of curriculum at the elementary level
- Organizes and supervises student activities and ensures standards for discipline health safety and student welfare
- Provides general supervision of all school areas and coordinates building use for school and community purposes
- Maintains all school records including attendance discipline health and student performance data
- Prepares and submits reports as required by the Superintendent DESE and other state and federal agencies
- Approves field trip requests aligned with the instructional program
- Recommends the hiring and termination of school personnel in accordance with district policy and state law
- Ensures implementation of School Committee policies and district regulations
- Serves as Co-Chair of the School Council and oversees development of the School Improvement Plan
- Plans and supervises volunteer programs and community engagement efforts
- Oversees staff orientation mentoring and building-based professional development
- Administers student discipline in accordance with due process and the student handbook
- Maintains inventory of supplies equipment and materials and develops the annual school budget
- Manages school-based funds and ensures accurate financial reporting
- Promotes building cleanliness maintenance and a positive school environment
- Oversees emergency preparedness including evacuation drills and safety procedures
- Serves on district-wide curriculum and program development committees
- Communicates effectively with students families staff and community members
- Supports student transition to middle school
- Organizes informational programs and strengthens family and community partnerships
- Implements systems to monitor and improve student achievement
- Coordinates and supervises student teachers and interns
- Arranges for substitute coverage and evaluates substitute performance
- Engages in ongoing professional learning to strengthen leadership practice
- Delegates responsibilities as appropriate in the absence of the Principal
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated leadership ability
- Vision for advancing 21st-century teaching and learning
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to lead in complex and evolving environments
- Masters degree from an accredited college or university with graduate coursework in educational leadership or school administration
- Eligibility for Massachusetts DESE licensure as an Elementary School Principal/Assistant Principal
- Bilingual candidates preferred
- Experience working in diverse educational settings preferred
Terms of Employment:
The successful candidate will be offered an employment contract with terms based on experience and qualifications. A competitive benefits package will be included. The anticipated start date is July 1 2026.
