Position Summary
Concordia University seeks applicants for a full-time undergraduate faculty position in the School of Nursing (SON). The successful candidate is a registered professional nurse who is responsible for classroom online blended and clinical instruction and other activities relating to nursing education. This is a twelve-month onsite and online contract with the University. This position reports to the Undergraduate Nursing Program Chairperson.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Each faculty member is expected to comply with all rules and regulations for University faculty as outlined in the Concordia University Wisconsin & Ann Arbor (CUWAA) and School of Nursing (SON) Faculty addition they have the following responsibilities:
Academic
- Implement teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs
- Provide guidance and mentorship to students
- Provide timely written and verbal feedback related to student performance
- Keep current records of student grades and academic work
- Participate in ongoing course and program review and revision
- Participate in program governance
Clinical
- Teach and/or coordinate clinical courses based on professional expertise
- Follow SON policies and procedures related to clinical teaching and student performance
- Communicate regularly with course coordinators and program director/chair regarding concerns
- Work collaboratively with staff at assigned clinical facilities/agencies
- Meet the health and vaccination requirements for all health care clinical affiliates who partner with SON programs. *These requirements may vary from university requirements.
Professional Activity
- Maintain unencumbered RN licensure and current knowledge of clinical practice within the areas of teaching responsibility
- Assist with recruitment of students
- Participate in professional community university and school service
- Engage in scholarship commensurate with academic rank
- Other duties as assigned
Knowledge Skills & Abilities
- Demonstrate effective leadership organizational skills and be a self-starter
- Work effectively with diverse individuals and organizations
- Experience with using technology specifically use of high-fidelity simulation preferred
- Familiar with higher education
- Able to deal with interruptions and work in a fast-paced environment
- Able to present a Christian and professional manner
- Possess strong written and oral communications skills
- Able to travel occasionally on behalf of the University
- All candidates must meet deadlines and work some night/weekends
- All Concordia faculty are members of Christian congregations. Membership in a congregation of the Lutheran Church-Missouri synod is preferred.
- Supportive of the mission and values of Concordia University Wisconsin/Ann Arbor and the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS)
Education & Experience
- Current Wisconsin licensure as a registered nurse or eligible for such licensure
- Master of Science Degree in Nursing and an earned doctorate in nursing or related field
- Current knowledge of theoretical principles and clinical practice within at least one of the following specialty areas is required: pharmacology community health psychological health med-surg obstetrics/womens health leadership and management
- Previous teaching experience in a baccalaureate or higher degree program is preferred
- Previous use of innovative and active teaching strategies including simulation and VR

Compensation & Benefits
This is a full-time exempt (salary) faculty position. The starting wage may be determined upon education and/or experience. Academic rank as designated by the President. Concordia University benefit options include but are not limited to the following:
