Job Summary

The Patient Care Associate (PCA) is a key member of the healthcare team providing direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. This role focuses on delivering high-quality patient-centered care by assisting with daily activities supporting clinical procedures and maintaining a safe and comfortable environment for patients.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and record vital signs (blood pressure pulse temperature respiration)
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing feeding toileting and mobility
  • Perform basic clinical procedures such as specimen collection venipuncture EKGs and application of compression devices
  • Assist with patient positioning ambulation and overall comfort
  • Maintain accurate documentation including intake/output pain levels and rounding logs
  • Support dietary needs including meal delivery and monitoring intake
  • Ensure a clean safe and organized patient environment
  • Provide one-to-one observation for patients requiring close monitoring (safety or behavioral needs)
  • Transport patients specimens and equipment as required
  • Respond promptly to patient call systems and assist visitors professionally
  • Assist with patient admissions discharges and documentation updates
  • Support nursing and clinical staff with additional duties as assigned

Education & Certifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) or AHA HeartSaver certification required

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of recent CNA experience in a hospital setting (required)
  • Prior clinical or direct patient care experience preferred
