Job Summary

The position will provide general facility maintenance support to building 801 and the site with guidance and supervision from the PTC-801 Building Coordinator. This role must adhere to appropriate safety procedures for all maintenance activities within the facility and to appropriate GMP procedures when working in any GMP lab or Production Area.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintain site location viability with emphasis on health and safety of employees customers and the surrounding community and environment.
  • Install maintain inspect troubleshoot repair and perform preventative maintenance inspections and repairs on all PRD QC including 800-raws and 810-IPC and ARD mechanical equipment and systems.
  • Diagnose mechanical equipment malfunctions make recommendations for repairs and initiate repairs in accordance with regulatory and cGMP requirements using OEM manuals and specifications.
  • Knowledge of shop and hand tools as necessary to complete any phase of installation or maintenance.
  • Ability to read and understand prints schematics piping diagrams technical manuals and related documentation.
  • Knowledge storage repair and maintaining of equipment in proper working order as well as the required documentation to provide certification of accuracy.
  • Rebuild PTC-801 equipment including QC-Raws & IPC labs components such as pumps chillers valves glass washers and seals to original manufactures specifications using various reference materials as needed.
  • Effectively communicate with site customers planners team leaders lab owners and department managers on issues.
  • Complete and submit work requests check sheets and completion sheets in a timely manner.
  • Properly maintain PTC-801 equipment as well as clean and organize storage and work areas.
  • Perform all work in accordance with relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as well as all Safety and Environmental regulatory requirements.
  • Assist maintenance personnel in all phases of building maintenance to include plumbing electrical HVAC and structural repairs and/or modifications etc. as needed.
  • Maintain the ThermoFisher Quality Systems conformance to regulatory requirements and company policies where appropriate through effective utilization of Quality Systems and tools as well as direct actions.
  • 90-day Waste Area Compliance Officer Back-up Aids in ensuring our 90-waste storage area remains in compliance for all waste streams; ensures all lab waste is properly transported from labs to 90-day and waste warehouse areas for both non-hazardous and hazardous wastes streams.
  • Assist with building coordinator; member of EH&S council; work requests; safe-works hot-works Chemical Hygiene Officer
  • Assist in S&R-MH Inventory for Chemicals solvents solvent cans gas cylinders Lab coats spill cabinets first aid kits lab pack hazardous waste label stations lab pack label station office supply closet consumables stock area PPE and lab maintenance safety supplies and equipment.
  • Assist in any area relocation and redesigning areas such as reactor supply consumable lab supply area lab pack storage area solvent room lab coat closets etc.
  • Aid in preforming lab walk through for improvements & corrections to promote safety for EH&S policies & compliance.
  • Familiarization on installation and repair/maintenance of lab equipment such as fume hoods laminar flow hoods glasswashers Milli-Q systems centrifuge vacuum pumps ovens reactors gas manifolds rotovaps stir motors chillers etc.

Job Scope:

Receives assignments in the form of objectives and determines how to use resources to meet schedules and goals.

Perform other duties as required.

Education:

High School Diploma or GED.

Prefer candidate to have completed continuing education courses /certificates in various trades and/or industrial maintenance related programs.

Experience:

Minimum of 1 year of experience working within a maintenance function preferably in a facility maintenance related setting.

In addition specialized skill set (as needed) with proven track record of successful performance in previous skill sets preferably may include electrical plumbing mechanical maintenance welding grinding metal work machinery.

Equivalency:

Equivalent combinations of education training and relevant work experience may be considered.

Competencies:

Ability to drive functional technical and operational excellence. Ability to inspire and foster innovation collaboration transparency and team effectiveness. Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously. Strong knowledge of GMP GDP SOPs and quality systems.

Physical Requirements:

Position requires ordinary ambulatory skills and physical coordination sufficient to move about laboratory locations; ability to stand walk stoop kneel crouch periodically manipulation (lift carry move) of light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds; arm hand and finger dexterity including the ability to grasp; visual acuity to use a keyboard computer monitor operate equipment and read materials for prolonged periods of time; ability to sit reach with hands and arms talk and hear for prolonged periods of time. Will use safety glasses safety shoes lab coat latex or similar gloves safety apron and organic respirator (occasionally).

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; sit and to talk hear or smell. The employee is occasionally required to walk and stoop or kneel crouch. The employee must also occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
