Position Overview
Aerstone is seeking an experienced Data Architect to support a mission-critical software development effort for the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA). This role supports the cybersecurity risk management process by designing managing and optimizing data architectures that underpin browser-based applications used for compliance tracking vulnerability management and RMF-aligned workflows.
You will play a key role in ensuring data integrity performance and secure access across a modern cloud-native technology stack hosted in AWS.
What Youll Do
- Design manage and optimize data storage and access using SQL-based databases such as Amazon RDS Redshift and Microsoft SQL Server.
- Develop and support ETL-based data synchronization using AWS services including Lambda Glue S3 and EC2.
- Create maintain and troubleshoot complex SQL queries views and stored procedures in support of application requirements.
- Collaborate closely with application developers to ensure data models align with functional and performance needs.
- Participate in Agile development cycles including sprint planning backlog refinement and peer code reviews.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of DevSecOps CI/CD pipelines for data and application deployments.
- Partner with security teams to ensure data architectures and pipelines meet secure coding and deployment standards.
- Troubleshoot data issues across environments and provide root-cause analysis and remediation.

Required Qualifications
- Active TS/SCI clearance.
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- 5 years of experience in backend database development or data engineering roles.
- Expert-level SQL skills including complex queries and performance tuning.
- Hands-on experience with AWS data transformation and integration services.
- Experience designing and maintaining data pipelines in AWS environments.
- Familiarity with Docker and containerized application environments.
- Strong understanding of secure coding practices and data security principles.
- Proven debugging troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with Python and PowerShell scripting is a plus.
