As an Automation Engineer youll make sure that our automated systems are working at their best so that our customers get their orders on time. By exploring data on everything from control systems to sensors youll maximise the availability of equipment at your sites. This role puts you at the forefront of Amazons emerging technology to solve complex productivity challenges.

Key job responsibilities
Monitor troubleshoot and repair issues with key systems
Work with the EU Controls network to monitor Material Handling Equipment (MHE) metrics
Provide data visualisations of troubleshooting to internal stakeholders
Own or actively participate in continuous improvement projects run by the EU Controls network
Work with different departments to ensure all systems are correctly documented and that accurate backup libraries are maintained
Work with global colleagues to install and commission new equipment
Support other sites in the EU Controls network as needed
Interpret mechanical and electrical drawings and develop improvement strategies for code conforming to IEC 61131-3

A day in the life
As an Automation Engineer youll be the site expert when it comes to keeping key automated systems running smoothly. Youll be working with our automation machinery from conveyors to sortation systems and ensuring theyre working efficiently. If something has gone wrong or can be done better youll take the lead in coming up with and implementing a solution.

Youll also share your expertise with your close colleagues. Youll be keeping your Engineering Technicians up to date with device troubleshooting and preventative maintenance control training so that your team can keep our automation systems in order.

De linstallation de systèmes demballage automatisés à la supervision de la maintenance générale dun site en passant par la réparation déquipements de distribution essentiels notre équipe assure le bon fonctionnement de la plupart des éléments techniques dAmazon. Nous veillons par exemple à ce que les bâtiments soient conformes à la législation afin dassurer la sécurité de tous et le fonctionnement à plein régime de nos sites. Les possibilités dévolution sont nombreuses tant au sein de léquipe RME quà léchelle dAmazon.
Tout ce que nous faisons vise à réduire les temps darrêt dans les principaux sites logistiques dAmazon afin que les clients reçoivent leurs commandes à temps. Nous travaillons souvent tôt ou tard pour effectuer les tâches de maintenance avec un minimum de perturbations y compris en équipes de nuit. Si nous voyons quil existe une méthodologie plus aboutie pour faire les choses nous avons les compétences nécessaires pour développer et introduire des processus nouveaux ou des technologies de pointe comme Amazon Robotics ou notre robot de tri ultra sophistiqué.

- - Relevant experience with PLC-controlled automation and issue diagnosis in a continuous process or production environment
- - Relevant experience supporting different conveyors and sortation systems
- - Relevant experience dealing with material handling flow and capacity visualisation and monitoring
- - Experience with at least one of the following tools:
- - Microsoft Office project management tools and EPLAN
- - Ladder Logic and structure programming from Siemens Allen-Brady or Codesys PLCs
- - Ignition SCADA or similar platform and Human Machine Interface (HMI)
- - EthernetIP Profinet Profibus and AS-i or other fieldbus networks
- - VFDs safety gateways and input and output devices
- - Advanced proficiency in verbal and written English and local language

- A degree in computer science electrical engineering industrial electronics or another technical subject
- Experience working within ISO 13849 and ISO 62061 frameworks
- Experience working in a multi-site environment
- Project management experience with multiple frameworks such as Agile and Waterfall
- Experience of Six Sigma data analysis or process improvement techniques
