Job Summary

JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION TITLE: Transportation Dispatcher SUPERVISOR: Transportation Director

JOB SUMMARY: Focus on Students Safety and Service while designing bus routes managing trips addressing radio traffic and communicating effectively with the public

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Assists in route planning scheduling and coordination

o Monitor and respond to real-time transportation issues

  1. Coordinates extra-curricular trips with school personnel and transportation staff
  2. Assists in planning training and in ELDT training responsibilities
  3. Assists in preparation of transportation audit materials by maintaining detailed records

o Maintains records such as student assignments route logs and incident reports

o Assists with general office duties such as filing data entry and document organization

  1. Works with drivers to solve transportation safety concerns
  2. Dispatches messages to appropriate staff and others

o Collaborate with schools supports onboarding and ongoing communication

  1. Provides excellent customer service and professional interactions
  2. Arriving for work on time according to the assigned schedule

o Requires either early morning or later afternoon hours to align with transportation schedules

  1. Effectively communicate verbally and in written form with administrators staff and the community as needed
  2. Substitute drive routes and safety coach as necessary
  3. Completing any and all reasonable duties/responsibilities as delegated/directed by the transportation director.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education

  • High school diploma/ GED (Required)
  • Possess a valid CDL (Minimum of Class B with Air Brake Passenger and School Bus Endorsements)
  • Preferred: two years experience as a bus driver Minimum: Willingness to obtain CDL within 60 days

Skills

  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Ability to make independent judgements in accordance within district procedures and policies
  • Ability to pass an annual physical examination to lift 50 lbs and to evacuate the bus in an emergency
  • Working with minimal supervision and independently performing tasks based on general directions
