Position Summary
This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location consistent with System Office policy. UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station. The Coordinator for Transition Programs & Assessment in New Student & Family Programs will lead and develop programs and services for the Weeks of Welcome in fall semesters Week of Welcome Back in spring semesters. Late Night programming at Orientation for First Year Students. Orientation programming for the Robertson Scholars Program and all extended orientation programs. This coordinator will serve as the offices primary resource for first year student initiatives that serve new international and out-of-state students. This coordinator will help hire train and supervise NSFPs WOW addition this coordinator will lead assessment efforts for WOW programs and together with direction from the NSFP management team will oversee all NSFPs office-wide assessment planning data collection analysis and reporting. This coordinator reports to the Associate Director for Orientation and Transition Programs in New Student & Family Programs.
Required Qualifications Competencies And Experience
Successful candidates must: Possess the ability to work effectively in teams and individually in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrate knowledge of the needs of first-year and transfer students and their families and how to best serve program for and communicate with these constituent groups. Demonstrate leadership and effectiveness in promoting respect and appreciation among a variety range of students and families. Have excellent verbal and written communication proofreading and editing skills. Possesses the ability to prioritize work appropriately and adapt easily to changing priorities as well as work independently on multiple tasks and deal effectively with conflicting priorities. Have a willingness to work some limited evenings and weekends (typically tied to WOW WOWB Orientation and Family Weekend seasons respectively).
Preferred Qualifications Competencies And Experience
Preferred Experience A minimum of one year of full-time professional experience in higher education or a related field. Two years in a related graduate assistantship may equal one professional year. Previous experience in developing and implementing orientation and transition programs preferred as is experience in developing programs for family members of college students. Previous experience with student leadership development including recruitment selection hiring training and supervision of undergraduate students. Experience developing assessment instruments collecting and analyzing quantitative and qualitative data. *Experience making data-driven strategic decisions aimed at continually improving programs and services.
