About the role:
Reporting to the Senior Lead Environment the Lead Water Management is responsible for leading the development of the Water Management Plan and Water Balances while ensuring alignment with our Operations Regional Water Quality Modelling and Water Governance Framework. This role is also responsible for driving activities related to surface water groundwater hydrology and water management planning for closure.

This person has outstanding interpersonal and communication skills and can effectively engage with professionals across departments and at varying levels of the organization. This position requires a flexible person who can find solutions to changing needs in fast-paced environment and who can work with nominal supervision using a collaborative approach on a team that tackles complex and novel issues.

In this role you will:

  • Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
  • Build updates of water planning related tools such as water balance model
  • Manage risks through effective implementation of site water management
  • Implement water management tools in alignment with long term site water management strategies and regulatory authorizations
  • Lead development updates of Water Management Plan consistent with business regulatory regional water quality modelling and Water Governance Framework requirements
  • Progress a holistic approach to water management to achieve water quality targets for closure
  • Lead engagement and manage relationships with government agencies Indigenous groups and other local communities of interest
  • Develop a site-based proactive process for water management to deliver efficiencies in source control strategies remediation/reclamation projects and regulatory authorizations
  • Proactively manage risks from project findings and risks associated with regional water quality modelling and site care and maintenance or possible plant processing activity
  • Provide senior level technical editing of permitting applications and regulatory submissions
  • Ensure regulatory commitments relating to Water Management Plans and Water Management Facilities are met
  • Prepare and submit data and reports to meet regulatory and other commitments present technical information to a variety of audiences
  • Find opportunities for water efficiency through integrating water costs into project development and operations
  • Identify operational water supply needs supply risk and develop feasible mitigation based on defined permitted mine life water needs
  • Collaborate with partners and advise senior management to support responsible water management decision making

Requirements:

  • Degree in Engineering or Science in environment mining civil geochemistry hydrology hydrogeology or other related field
  • Minimum five years demonstrated ability working in industrial environment; experience in mining or oil and gas
  • Minimum two years experience supervising or leading a team
  • Experience in project management and delivery
  • Relevant professional accreditation is an asset
  • Experience in development and implementation of holistic water management programs and risk evaluation of water quality/quantity and aquatic life is an asset
  • Technical knowledge of federal and provincial mining water practices and regulatory compliance is an asset
  • Valid Class 5 Drivers License or equivalent
$106000 - $131000 a year
The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidates relevant experience skills and competencies and considers internal equity.
