Job Summary

Nature and Scope

The Logistics Director is responsible for all company warehouses located in Ohio New York and California. As a member of the leadership team the Director will provide strategic vision and tactical direction for the coordination of the receipt storage transportation and delivery of goods. Will lead and develop staff members in Receiving Distribution Warehouse and Logistics operations to support company goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure all work is performed and documented in accordance with existing Company policies and procedures as well as cGMP health and safety requirements and all applicable governing body standards.
  • Comply with federal state and local warehousing material handling and shipping requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements
  • Organize the safe and efficient storage and distribution of goods and to meet order fulfillment targets and mitigate risk in the supply chain
  • Manage and maintain low cost shipping by evaluating shipping locations NY or Ohio
  • Ensure product protection controlled temperature distribution where applicable
  • Harmonize best practices for all warehouse operations
  • Maintain compliance with federally mandated Track & Trace for all distributed product
  • Responsible for oversight and management of all external warehousing (3PLs) and logistics
  • Responsible for all inbound shipment and control of materials
  • Develops warehouse design by planning layout product flow and product handling systems; evaluating and recommending new equipment.
  • Develops warehouse operations system improvements by analyzing process workflow manning and space requirements and equipment layout; implementing changes.
  • Develop key metrics and monitor performance of warehouses in terms of inventory accuracy shipment accuracy delivery performance and warehouse efficiency.
  • Coordinate and manage personnel engaging in transportation of production or sampled material and intercompany mail between sites.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships throughout the organization as well as with contractors vendors clients and other pertinent organizations to assure organizational effectiveness.
  • Plan organize and manage companys internal inventory operations and activities in the area of raw materials and components which include controlled substances vendors planning warehousing contract manufacturers shipping and receiving and overall customer satisfaction both internally and externally.
  • Develop and modify SOPs as needed
  • Perform and document investigations and implement CAPA plans as needed
  • Manage the operation and organization of raw material and finished good storage including controlled substances
  • Perform investigations of inventory discrepancies as required and ensure physical inventory reconciles with perpetual inventory and cycle counts are completed as scheduled
  • Work with subordinates to further their personal and professional development
  • Maintain VAWD certifications
  • Provide effective leadership including: individual goal setting/performance reviews managing the development of employees recognizing and appreciating employee contributions mitigating conflict and communication problems planning and facilitating team activities selecting personnel and motivating members of the functional area.
  • Perform any other tasks/duties as assigned by management.

Education Requirements and Qualifications

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability required.

  • Bachelors Degree Required
  • Minimum of 10 years warehousing logistics operations or supply chain experience
  • Minimum of 10 years management or supervisory experience preferably in a Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Environment
  • Microsoft suite products AS400 highly preferred
  • ASCM/CLTD certification
  • Knowledge of cGMP regulated environment
  • Oral and written communication skills
  • Time management and project management skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Solid Leadership teamwork and interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to read documents in Standard English such as Standard Operating Procedures maintenance schedules and operating manuals

Physical Environment and Requirements

  • Employee must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.

Travel Requirements

  • Responsibilities include domestic travel 10% of the time.
