We are seeking a dedicated scholar to help advance leadership and management accounting research (e.g performance management business partnering digitalization action learning etc) within the Accounting Research Group at Aalborg University Business School.
The position is a full-time fixed term assistant professorship for a period of up to six years with employment starting on September 1 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter.
Your work tasks
As an assistant professor in management accounting and leadership you will conduct independent quantitatively oriented research and aim for publication in leading international journals. You will be involved in developing and delivering teaching primarily at both bachelor and master levels and on HD and MBA programs including topics such as business partnering performance management leadership etc. The position includes supervision of project groups and individual students participation in research collaborations within the group and active engagement in the academic community at the business school. You will further contribute to the development of new research ideas and facilitate external funding. As part of the appointment you are expected to complete the universitys pedagogical training programme for assistant professors.
Your Competencies
We are looking for a colleague with a strong interest in research and a clear ambition to contribute to international academic debates through rigorous work. You should have completed or be close to completing a PhD in a field relevant to leadership management accounting or similar and be able to demonstrate the potential for developing an independent research profile. We value candidates who are curious reflective and open to collaboration and who enjoy contributing to a collegial research environment. Experience with teaching at university level is an advantage as is familiarity with applied quantitative and qualitative methods but we welcome applicants at different stages of their pedagogical development. We appreciate a constructive and engaged approach to teaching supervision and interaction with students and we look for someone who is motivated to contribute positively to both the research and teaching communities at the business school. Most of the teaching takes place in Danish.

The Accounting research group is based at Aalborg University Business School and has a strong interest in how firms do accounting management accounting broadly speaking. The group works with contemporary topics in leadership (e. g. business partnering) and management related to the core of accounting. Assessment in connection with transfer to associate professorship
The assessment in connection with transition to tenure as an associate professor normally takes place in the final six months of the tenure track assistant professors employment. However the employee may request that an assessment take place at an earlier time in the first four years. If this assessment finds that the employee is not academically qualified they may request another assessment within the final six months of their period of employment. A maximum of two assessments may take place.
The assessment on transition to the associate professorship will as a minimum emphasize the following qualifications in relation to the scientific subject area of the tenure track assistant professorship:
If the tenure track assistant professor fails to request that their qualifications be assessed in the last year of their period of employment or if they are assessed as not academically qualified the university must immediately initiate dismissal proceedings in accordance with the collective agreement rules.

Salary and terms of employment
The employment is in accordance with the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Universities (the Appointment Order) and the Ministerial Order on Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities (in Danish) and protocol on certain terms of employment of academic staff at universities (in Danish).
Salary and terms of employment are in accordance with the collective agreement between the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations and the state (AC collective agreement) (only in Danish) and protocol on certain terms of employment of academic staff at universities (only in Danish).
There is a mutual probationary period of 3 months for the position.
